do they consume less oil to make the electricity than used to refine to Petrol?

Well, yes...

The theory is that the vast amount of energy required for the process comes from 'renewable' sources.... :roll:

So we have to cover the entire country with expensive, short-lived PV panels to produce 'petrol' that we can much more easily and cheaply dig out of the ground...

We can 'clean' Africa and cover it with PV panels. Life there seems unproductive anyway. :wink:

Ford have developed an LPG engine system "ecoLPI" which in the case of the XR6 LPI produces 200kW but is cheaper to run than a toyota corolla.
