As well as Cyprus there bigger fish with financial problems including I might add the UK which has embarked on a massive reduction of State benefits including perhaps the £200.00 winter allowance to Senior citizens. Greece, Spain, Portugal, as well as Italy , France and Ireland are also embarking on drastic measures to tackle their own financial difficulties. Are we to presume that all these countries have incompetent Finance Ministers ?
Cyprus will pull through long before the other countries in difficulties.

It will recover again, we have a brilliantly capable Finance Minister in Vasos Shiarlis, a man I got to know well way back in the early 70s, his brother, also a brilliant Economist, Tony Sharlis, both born in Trikomo, lived with me and my family while studying in London for seven years. I know that Mr Shiarlis is adequately and educationally equipped to lead Cyprus out of its economic difficulties. We did it before under far more strenuous circumstances we shall do it again.

if some gossip is to be believed poor Vassos Shiarly is not being allowed to do what must be done, by our sweet but thick president Chris Toffeearse

Russia Has No Plans to Give Cyprus Loan on Risk, Storchak Says - Bloomberg
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-12-26/russia-has-no-plans-to-give-cyprus-loan-on-risk-storchak-says.html

Russia has no plans to grant a 5 billion-euro ($6.6 billion) loan requested by Cyprus because the risks are too great to be assumed by a single creditor, Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak said.
“We have no specific plans or instructions to do so,” Storchak said in a Dec. 24 interview in Moscow. “It’s obvious that no single creditor can work with Cyprus alone,” he said. “Anyone who steps up on an individual basis to finance that country’s government or to help recapitalize its banks would be taking an enormous risk.”

The last thing Russians want is Cyprus economy collapsing completely when the banks in Cyprus are stocked with hundreds of millions of Russian Euros and dollars in Black Money! :)
