Turkey abandons onshore drilling in Cyprus

Postby Hermes » Sun Sep 30, 2012 3:02 pm

THE on-land oil search in the occupied area of Cyprus has ended with failure and been abandoned.

The Turkish Ministry of Energy said the exploration in the Turkyurdu well has stopped since no results came out of the research, reports Zaman.

The Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) launched onshore drilling to much fanfare at the 3,000-metre-deep Turkyurdu-1 well in April in search of hydrocarbons near the town of occupied Trikomo.

The launch ceremony was attended by Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz.

The failure of the drilling at Turkyurdu-1 is the latest set-back to Turkish energy ambitions in Cyprus.

Last year, Turkey was forced to halt exploration of the Mediterranean after their only exploration ship broke down.

The “Piri Reis” was left stranded at sea with an un-repairable engine.

The incident came as a huge embarrassment to Ankara, which has recently flexed their muscles on the energy issue.

Ah yes a double disappointment for Turkey.

They fail to find the not a chance in hell of finding non-existent oil in the Occupied Areas and also fail with their real ambition which is to muscle in on CY resources by raising tensions.

Now must go and start drilling for oil in the back-yard here in London to up the ante, an ambitious scheme in which a huge well-known American company is involved.

Anyone seen me Black and Decker...???

Nope but we've got some nifty Exocet missiles we've been dusting off that could come your way if you come near Paphos.

Turkey is going to drill from a boat. :?

When was the last time Turkey drilled for anything from a boat?

Haven't they heard of Oil Platforms, which Turkey has none, nor do they have the expertise to operate one, and no Oil company is going to do it for Turkey on someone else's backyard illegally!

As soon as all the blocks around Cyprus have been contracted out to varies oil companies from France, Russia, China, UK, USA, Italy and so on, Turkey will need to deal with those oil companies and the country they are from if they should try to come into any of the blocks illegally.

If you thought Turkey had problem with her neighbours now, wait until she has real problem with those countries who has the capabilities to sink her "drilling boat" to the bottom of the ocean, for it to get much closer to the oil and gas it was trying to drill for.

Yes, Turkey needs one of these and it ain't got one and no one will lease anything like it to Turkey to explore illegally...

The Homer Ferrington semi-submersible rig which did such brilliant and valuable work in CY Block 12's "Aphrodite" Well...

Yes Lordo, after they build their own brand cars, passenger planes and now, Oil Platforms.

It's going to take more than 3 months for them to build the brains in how to build any of the above in 3 months, 3 years or in 3 decades!
