Not exactly D. It derives from ancient Greek: καίω (k:e-o=burn).

The past tense in ancient Greek: εκάην (ek:a-in) which is similar to the Greek Cypriot dialect ek:a-iken!

Naturally of course since Cyprus is the birthplace of the Greek language and the centre of Hellenism...
