So you wrongly assume that those who fought against coupists were not Greeks?

In the coup of 74 there was no fight between Greeks and Cypriots. The fight was between coupists and the defenders of democracy, who were also Greek.

About the "TA for saving your ass" part, this shows that you are are either a foreigner or a traitor (you choose) since you adobt the lame excuses of the enemy. No need to say more.

greece instigated the coup...cypriots that rejected greek rule are cypriots...the coupist greeks/greek wanabies, had no scrubbles killing their own kind, you think they would have cared for the tcs?...further more makarios called it a greek invasion or you forgot about that?...

oh yes, in '74 it was greeks and wannabe greeks against cypriots...while you are at it condemn the coupists...

about the TA saving your ass...you betcha...just think if the TA didn't invade the civil war went for a longer time, heaps of blood spilled on the streets, you think the defenders of democracy would have gorgiven the coupists?...they would have said, oh ok now it's over we forgive you while you killed my son, daughter, father mother?...no way piratis, the coupists would have had a couple of choices...either swim to greece or get buried...what do you think the scum bag coupists would have opted for?...burial or swimming?...and this is a FACT...the crux of your thinking piratis...yes i support the invaders because i can think for myself... ...oh start killing everyone and there wil be no revenge killings...if you lived in la la land you could kinda be excused...

my my , what refershing thinking from piratis...forgetting people like you handed 37% to turkey with the, this is a greek island mentality...fuck greece...

Those who fought the coupists were Greek, including Makarios himself who never kept his ethnic identity secret.

I would like to see you saying to the people who fought against the coup, such as Lyssarides one of the leaders of the resistance, that they are not Greek. This would be the greatest kind of offense for them.

Just a question: Are you saying what you are saying out of ignorance, or are you intentionally trying to falsify history to excuse the Turkish invaders?

Vassos Lyssarides was born at Lefkara, Cyprus, in 1920. While a medical student in Athens he organized the All Students Committee for the Cyprus struggle of which he was the president. During the same period he was the General Secretary of the Co-ordinating Committee of the Cyprus Associations in Greece and in charge of the Cyprus sector of EAM (National Liberation Movement of Greece). He joined the national liberation struggle of Cyprus (EOKA). He represented EOKA at the London Conference and voted against the Zurich-London agreements on Cyprus. He led the struggle against the junta in Cyprus with links to the resistance movements in Greece. He was the leader of the resistance against both EOKA B and the coup against Makarios. In the conference of political leaders on 15 August, 1974, under the threat of the armed supporters of the coup he managed to call off the acceptance of the Gunes plan which provided for a “peaceful” occupation of Cyprus by the Turkish army. He stressed that the post-coup situation and legality would only be re-instated with the return of the democratically elected President, Archbishop Makarios. This stand led to an attempt against his life which resulted in the murder of Doros Loizou (a famous poet) ...

allow me to simplify it for you piratis...if a member of my family was killed by the coupists, i would want to drink their blood...swimming as far as i am concerned wouldn't be their option...and i do not give a continental who they were...its called a justified revenge killing...now you get it...nothing to do with ignorance, but ignorance from your part in not understanding human nature...and i blame the TA for interfeering on this...they stopped us from finishing the grivas supporters, eoka B once and for all...

so stop asking stupid questions...if the civil war was prolonged and a lot of people died, believe me swimming back to greece would have been a luxury option for you...i would want them executed...

but maybe in your la la land utopia state once civil war finished, everything would have been ok...how old are you btw?...

I agree that Grivas supporters and EOKA B should have been punished for what they did, but why exactly you group me together them?? Because my ethnic identity is Greek, like it is for the vast majority of Cypriots including Makarios, Lyssarides and those who fought against the coupists and EOKA B?

One thing is to say that you want to punish the coupists and EOKA B (which I agree) and another thing to imply that you want to ethnically cleanse all Greek Cypriots from Cyprus. This is what the Turks have done using the coup as an excuse, and I hope you are not justifying their actions.

progress at last...I am glad you see my point and agree as far as TA saving the scumbags asses...

where did i say i want to etnically cleansed all christians cypriots form cyprus...just the filthy dogs to which we both agree...

here is another one to ponder on piratis regarding inferiority complexes...i was born in cyprus therefore a cypriot, you were born in cyprus but you are a greek...so who out of the two of us has an inferiority complex, me or you?...

i never justified turkey's actions and i do not know where you got that from...but one thing is for sure...if greece did not interfere, today we would all be enjoying the republic...wouldn't you agree?...

boomerang, I am at least as much Cypriot as you are. Just saying that you are Cypriot and not Greek doesn't make you any more Cypriot than I am.

If somebody said that his ethnicity is Limassolian would this make him more Limassolian than I am? No. It would just make him seem strange.

I am Limassolian, Cypriot, Greek and European and this is perfectly normal. In Cyprus the main ethnic group is Greek, then a smaller one is Turkish and then there are some even smaller ones. You can choose to identify yourself as you wish but you can not ignore the facts.

Turkey used the coup as an excuse to invade but this doesn't justify the invasion. Obviously the coup should have never happened because like any coup it aimed to dissolve democracy and this is by itself bad enough. No need to talk about this in a way that helps the Turkish propagandists.

Beyond that we can ask a million "what if" questions which can have a billion possible answers. You can have a theory that without Greece all would be perfect, and I can have a theory that without Greece Cyprus would have been returned to the Turks in return for the British keeping bases. There is really no point in playing such games.

What is important is to be united in our struggle against the occupation, not fighting between us and helping the invaders to create excuses for their occupation. Today Greece is the country that supports Cyprus most than any other. They might not have the power to remove the occupation but if all other countries were like Greece then we wouldn't be worrying about direct flights, direct trade, indirect recognition etc of the occupation regime. We wish that all other countries today had a Cyprus policy similar to the one of Greece. So today, while half of Cyprus is occupied by the Turks, I see your attacks on Greece totally unjustified even if you see Greece as a foreign country.

well piratis, the last i checked this is a cyprus forum, not a greek forum...if you fell the need to be greek, by all means feel your self, but keep it private...no need to insult me with the we are all greeks...you keep on harping we are all greeks and i will keep on dumping...sounds fair to me piratis...

and when are you going to acknowledge greece's hand in this mess?...

re esi ides kalamara tjie anthropo...ego oi...potte mou enida kalamara tjie anthropo...just today enas katsikogleftis calls me a kipreo epidi ton ekama charge $11 freight for his goods to him with a fucking whopping 30% discount on his order and he calls me and argues about the freight, trying to get the freight for free...i called him a poushto kalamara and told him to lose me number and hanged up...he calls back and apologises...what a ball breaker...

just one story out of thousands...keep in mind melbourne is the 3rd largest greek city in the world...but do you see greek culture anywhere, nope...i see identity stealing during the australian open, and plenty of it....simply don't trust them...am i wrong?...
