No wonder why most Brits and Britain so strongly opposed/oppose, doubt and mock the Geekness of the GREEK Cypriots. No wonder why the colonials and their agents and their doggies in Cyprus try so hard to disconnect the Greek Cypriots from our GREEK roots.
No wonder why most of the "Cypriots" who express any kind of affection for this flag, with the exception of some food faithed but deluded individuals) are the Choirokoitian wannabees, the "anglopliktoi" the "Francolevantines" and the fifth columnists.

P.S. 1 Watching the vid, I heard the guys saying that by hoisting that flag they were honoring ELDYK. They could not hoist a CY flag to do that could they?
P.S. 2 Maybe CAP is right that it would be appropriate to also hoist the ELDYK flag. But that they could not do without the official permission of both the regiment as well as the RoC authorities.

The flag of Cyprus proudly represents a people who have come through a lot of adversity from Greece, Turkey and the UK to have a well earned self-determination and an international presence.

It is waived with absolute and unashamed pride at International events:

It's a pity that the Greek wannabes refuse to learn from history that whilst the 1960 constitution was unviable, this had been resolved in 1963 and by 1967 Cyprus was an undisputed normally functioning democracy.

I always suspected you never had a clue about what the CYProb is all about. No am sure.

If you were a Cypriot you would know a few basic things about the history of CY such as:

If it wasn't for the struggle of the EOKA boys who went to their deaths waving Greek Flags, and the majority of the Greek Cypriots who supported this struggle demanding "Aftodiathesis-Enosis", the independence of the Island would not have been achieved. British wannabees like you who do nothing else but support the colonial/neo colonial propaganda and are trying to alienate the Cypriots from their roots have no reason to be proud of or even judge the achievements and the struggles and the aspirations of the Cypriots because they never participated to any of the struggles or the hardships and they never approved of them and they even opposed to them. People like you would be much more content if Cyprus was still a British colony today. I bet you are a supporter of the Annan Plan too which was eliminating the R.o.C and was turning Cyprus into a Turko/British colony/protectorate all over again.

Incorrect! The UN’s 1960 decolonization resolution is what liberated Cyprus and many other countries. It’s unfortunate that the EOKA struggle was all for nothing and even worked against Cyprus by accommodating the British bases in the heat of it all.

This is something I informed you about before but you’re obviously hard at learning!

A lawyer; as you claim to be, cannot afford to be ignorant of such an historic resolution that liberated more than 30 countries worldwide.

Ah! Yes. That UN "RESOLUTION" freed Cyprus:

How come the many resolutions concerning Cyprus since 1974 had no effect up to now?

Your resolution stipulates:
......that all peoples have the right to self-determination, but that this necessarily includes the right freely to determine their political status and freely to pursue their economic, social and cultural development (art. 2);

How come we were not granted the "Free Determination" right provided for by your resolution?

and:

...that immediate steps shall be taken, in United Nations Trust and Non-Self-Governing Territories or all other territories which have not yet attained independence, to transfer all powers to the peoples of those territories (art. 5).

Cyprus's independence was a fact since 1959 thanks to them:

Give it up GR. Go find some vids with dancing kilintzoiroi to post will you?

The UN called for independence for ALL colonies in a BINDING resolution unlike country specific individual resolutions which may or may not be binding and enforceable.

We did have free determination! About a year prior to this resolution Cypriots democratically voted for Makarios to be their future president and indeed Cyprus was granted independence and Makarios took office in August 1960.

Cyprus's independence was a fact since 1959 thanks to them:

I'm afraid not. Britain was well aware of this coming resolution... after all she was the biggest colonial offender on the planet and she hated the idea of losing the springboard to the ME and Africa (Cypriot territory) so she took advantage of the uprising to supposedly close a “deal” with EOKA and make it look like EOKA “won” most of the Cypriot territory and that Britain would have to settle for a tiny piece on the shore!

As per usual the foolish Cypriots signed on the dotted line ignoring the kicking and screaming of the only clever (read British trained) Cypriot that existed at the time… Tassos Papadopoulos!

Is that what "Free Determination" means?
Just free elections? How about referendums to determine the long term future of a country and of nations? Were the Cypriots allowed to freely determine whether they approved or not the London-Zurich agreements? How come the will of Cypriots as determined freely in the referendum of 51 was not respected?

As per usual the foolish Cypriots....
(read Makarios-Karamanlis)

....signed on the dotted line ignoring the kicking and screaming of the only clever (read British trained) Cypriot that existed at the time… Tassos Papadopoulos!

And George Grivas Digenis and many other prominent GREEK Cypriots (read Greek trained) who opposed the Zurich-London Agreements.

It’s true! The Greek men can’t even dance! We have our all-male dances with the sickle, the stacked up glasses, the sift dance, the chair dance, and similar that they’ve never seen before! All Greek men ever do is go round an around like women… there’s no comparison!

We’re cool Cypriots baby!!! :)

i ask you again GR, give me a source or a link to what you are talking about that predates 74.. that Cypriots arent Greek in origin....or that a group of Cypriots organized themselves pre 74 to fight against Hellenism.....
