If you come to think of it, the flag of Cyprus represents a sick, unviable and still born constitution/state, imposed on the majority of the Cypriots against our will by Britain which, by it and with it, was securing the continuation of its own colonial interests/presence on the island and its plans for the future partition of it.

No wonder why most Brits and Britain so strongly opposed/oppose, doubt and mock the Geekness of the GREEK Cypriots. No wonder why the colonials and their agents and their doggies in Cyprus try so hard to disconnect the Greek Cypriots from our GREEK roots.
No wonder why most of the "Cypriots" who express any kind of affection for this flag, with the exception of some food faithed but deluded individuals) are the Choirokoitian wannabees, the "anglopliktoi" the "Francolevantines" and the fifth columnists.

P.S. 1 Watching the vid, I heard the guys saying that by hoisting that flag they were honoring ELDYK. They could not hoist a CY flag to do that could they?
P.S. 2 Maybe CAP is right that it would be appropriate to also hoist the ELDYK flag. But that they could not do without the official permission of both the regiment as well as the RoC authorities.

The flag of Cyprus proudly represents a people who have come through a lot of adversity from Greece, Turkey and the UK to have a well earned self-determination and an international presence.

It is waived with absolute and unashamed pride at International events:

It's a pity that the Greek wannabes refuse to learn from history that whilst the 1960 constitution was unviable, this had been resolved in 1963 and by 1967 Cyprus was an undisputed normally functioning democracy.

The British in fact love the fact that some Cypriots want to play at being Greek and others want to play at being Turkish, because as long as the status quo persists, the British can sit on the fence comfortable in the fact that they can keep the bases indefinately.

The Cretans had been all over that area since the very ancient times. Have you ever heard of the Philistines? Ask the Palestinians what they call themselves in their language illiterate (about Greek issues) English school graduate.

I don’t know why so many are troubled by Cyprus’ unique identity and culture… :?

If you want to be Greek just move to Athens and be troubled no more! Just put on your white tunic, an olive branch on your head, and climb on the rooftop of the Acropolis where you can recite hundreds of verses of “I recognize your sharpness!" and live the hellenic dream!

The Balkans is a different region to the eastern Med so don't expect to find the same things!

Why punish yourself in Cyprus anyway? :?

Yes. The existing status quo, which so they so methodically engineered since 1956 and which is gloriously represented by the symbol of neo colonialism. i.e., the CY flag of today which most Cypriots call the piss stained piece of cloth.

By the way. Why don't you mind your own British business? You are not even a Cypriot and stop pretending otherwise. Wasn't YOU the one who REJOICE when Pagthatis lost to the Scot in the London Olympics? Or was biased reaction due to the fact that Pagthatis dedicated his first victory to both CY and Greece?????????
