We also learn from the article that there is a ten-week limit on abortions in Turkey and the now dead rapist had threatened and blackmailed the woman to bear the child to full term and she is now well past the time limit.

Erm, I think she was trying to "regain" her honour which would, presumably, have been lost if she hadn't shot him 10 times, knifed him several times and then to make sure he was thoroughly dead, beheaded him ontop.
