Lebanon's Natural gas deposits exceeds that of Cyprus/Syria

Postby wyoming cowboy » Fri Sep 07, 2012 11:46 pm

Could there be a connection between the Arab spring and the natural gas brought to light/discovered in the Eastern Med. and some Arab countries?

Your answer is here:
But Rowlands declined to compare the potential size of Lebanon’s natural gas to Israel.

are you saying mr kurupetos, that the tyrants in the middle east(egypt, libya, tunisia, syria)were toppled so as not to have the added leverage of hydrocarbons in their arsenal? and that any cooperation with Israel would have been impossible?

I do not see those countries as tyrants. Wait a moment, you live in the US! The Americans control Israel (actually the opposite, but let's keep it this way for now), and now they control Egypt and Syria. Do you remember in the Iraq invasion what was the Americans' biggest worry? To save the oil wells!

Lebanon is f*cked up anyway. They can do whatever they want with it, especially if they manage to beat Syria.

Since Cyprus has in its possession huge amounts of hydrocarbons, wouldnt it be in Cyprus' interest to have its neighbors being democratic and cooperative? How can you say these dudes in "Egypt, Iraq, Syria and Tunisia werent tyrants?

How do you feel now WC? What was that? Arab Spring?

U.S. Embassy in Egypt stormed by protesters; U.S. flag shredded

Egyptian protesters, largely ultraconservative Islamists, climbed the walls of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo on Tuesday, made their way into the courtyard and brought down the flag, replacing it with a black flag with an Islamic inscription to protest a film attacking Islam's prophet, Muhammad.

Hundreds of protesters marched to the embassy in downtown Cairo, gathering outside its walls and chanting against the movie, which was reportedly produced in the United States.

"Say it, don't fear: Their ambassador must leave," the crowd chanted.

I do think America has been playing a game of destabilising all the countries which border Europe. Europe is now ringed by Islamic countries whose governments are loose cannons. American meddling has created so many refugees that they are flooding the EU and adding to the economic crisis and hence the rise of nationalism within Europe (no, not just GD - the Germans have gone completely Teutonic).

It's all about bringing down the Euro, the dollar's main competitor.

Americans do help in bringing down these tyrants, but it seems they are helping to push naturally occuring events towards a certain conclussion. I dont know too much about how its affecting Europe, but there are certain things that are showing that the economic crisis is subsiding.

I hope you remembered to put your tin foil hat on last night and may I , humbly, suggest you start wearing it for the other 16 hours a day too.

Even if you were to take this seriously, let's consider the following -

We are talking about a country where the possible president believes this -

http://futiledemocracy.wordpress.com/20 ... -delusion/

Was, in fact,a bishop of this "religion" and has donated umpteen million dollars.

America is many things and has a great track record in industry, innovation and technology ( to name a few) ..... However...... Intelligent, cohesive, succesfull ( by any measure) foreign policy and anti European sentiment are not words I'd attach to American government.

Oh and lets not forget ... American industry and manpower, combined with British tenacity and Russian, blood, stopped most of Europe using German as it's primary language.
American money rebuilt a shattered Europe

I'd look a lot closer to home for Europes problems
