very good of you to bring up the word discrimination. thank you. the sentiments are mine as you well know. there are no attempts to speak of. why. because tc are not welcome and they know what would arise if they did attempt. failure. can you produce examples of bringing tc into the sporting and cultural fold. no i doubt it. carry on with the divide. i like it.

halil, dude!

...thank-you.

but these Principals are not on the table, ask for a Greek Constituency, there is a Turkish Constituency, there is a Republic:
but will Turkey (and "Greeks") want that; doesn't that make sense?
...so that as partners with other Cypriot Constituencies (like Maronites, etc.) they are equals, and i am sure their National Assemblies could find the Territorial Jurisdictions where their distinctions come first, because, as Individuals, they are Sovereign, not as "Greeks" or "Turks", or "etc.", it is in their State where they find this Liberty, they vote (as well) for a Federal Government, as Citizens of Cyprus, representing the Unity they have with all Mankind, as Human Beings, bettering Human Conditions, as Cypriots.

you see halil, there is no Greek Constituency,
...and dare i say it, as a Greek State, Cyprus is the ideal pawn in what seems an endless Proxy War between powerful interlocutors who see the island as Property. we as Cypriots remain victims unseen in their debate (in "their" grander scheme of things), denied a voice as Cypriots. our Republic is trapped in defending not just all our Individual Rights as this island's dwellers, but the Rights of Greeks ((quite logically) because by population they are so many).

However, here lies the great compromise where Denktash and Makarios are Heros; a Cypriot State:
if you want Freedom you must live under this flag, we all must live under this flag, anyone who is Cypriot cannot take a side in this debate, there is one Cyprus, and, the Gates have been opened. i say fly your Cypriot Flag right round the island, fly it everywhere people gather, if one is to fly a Greek flag or a Turkish Flag for all the right reasons, Cypriot Flags can always fly as well. that is a lot, it is a big advancement in Mankinds' thinking, although it is called a compromise, it opens this door, by defining Bicommunal, (and Bizonal) in a manner where by our demonstration, a unitary State exists, and where our lives as Persons can thrive, others may emulate. as Cypriots, consider how small our population is. it is easier here, for example, than it would be in Turkey, given that this State too is made up of many Constituencies. it seems to me that only Cypriots can fashion the fulcrum where the "Turkish and Greek" levers can be balanced, some harmony in forces like these, by example, could change the World.

...fly a Cypriot Flag, hopefully, no "Turk" will shoot you, no "Greek" will say you got what you deserve; the few of us (in what seems to be a bigger picture) who have this desire are who the rest of the world is rooting for.

...we can hope that all Cypriots still choose for themselves, Freedom.
truth is kentish, you would have to recognise the existence of a Cypriot Republic for you to demand equal recogniton for Cypriot Constituencies. if you want recognition on the world stage for your athletes, do as others (like the IOC) offer, join as Cypriots, in Cyprus there are Communal and Inter-Communal Leagues, but for Cyprus, where your Rights are Individual, if you are refused (because of discrimination) it is a crime against Cypriots. if you choose to represent yourselves as "Turks", as in Turkish Cypriots who exclude Cypriots because they are Greek to participate with them, it is (just as) wrong.
for Cyprus; is there a Greek flag on their jerseys, Cyprus' athletes at the Game?

...hockey lalis, (to answer your question) i am not one much for sports but, i like to think that this game is played by many in Cyprus, still.

My own understanding is that any ROC citizen who qualifes is welcome to compete in any international competion but it must be as an ROC Citizen through the auspices of the recognised Cypriot sporting bodies which are based in the ROC, which for the Turkish Speaking Cypriots living in the illegally occupied zone means recognition of the ROC and is prohibited by the occupiers.

Wrong. They are not prohibited by anyone in the north, the problem is they do not want to be forced to compete under a flag which does not represent them ass to the fact that even if there was a TC who could run the 100m faster than Usain he would still not be chosen the GCs would find a way to make sure he does not go, they would rather have Yorgo.
