Is it any wonder when you've got 1.35 billion people or 20% of the world's population?

No, your reasoning is not necessarily correct because India, with about the same population, won 1 medal! :? India finished 67th (same as Cyprus!)

Explain this!

... Watching the Paralympics have been thinking about disabilities and am thinking that an awful lot of people's attitudes towards disability will have changed and changed forever.

what were peoples attitudes before in your mind compared to after?

Didn't many of us do what we always do...??? ... which is to categorise people, in this case to label people as disabled, as being severely limited in their expectations... well, these defiant people have proved those of us who thought that way to be so wrong... so very, very wrong.

Another thing that's also stuck in mind was that so, so many of these Paralympians got their injuries in road accidents, so there but for the Grace of God might be a thought that one or two people on CF might benefit from dwelling on...

File...if you've ever been around these people before you would know. They are defiant and fiercely independent probably more so then if they didnt have a handicap. I knew one man (Uncle Jimmy) we called him, stricken with polio in the late 50's....grew up a paraplegic. he once snuck into a repo lot(climbed a fence) and stole his own car back outdrove the people chasing him through city streets. Hung out in pool halls drinking with the lowest dregs of society and fought a few of them and won. Was thrown down a flight of stairs by his future wife's brothers, went back the next day, knocking on their door, looking for her. I saw him once in the hills of West virginia hanging out with the dirtiest, hillbillies redneck inbreds with wives that looked like their daughters, sitting next to them drinking a beer and skinning a lamb for Greek easter, these people become fearless.....

These rough-necked boys and girls from West Virginia would have been at home in the old CY villages, where the gene pool was severely limited in the old days... :D

... but yes to tell you the truth file and you wouldn't want me to lie to you, watching the Paralympics really was an eye-opener for me... well, don't get out much, as some of you might say.

Just wait for the next ones… I predict some of the runners showing up with bionic legs and fighting over who’s got the fastest processor!

Interesting article here - about how the Brits have over-politicised the games.

Err no… I still can’t fathom why a group of one legged people would want to have a race or why a group of blind people would want to aimlessly play five-a-side soccer!

If anything the Paralympics is the world’s greatest extravaganza of those living in denial and in serious need of a reality check.

You would fit in then.
