Without the Ancient Greeks there would be nothing recent of any note.

But we all know that with the modern Greeks there is nothing of any note.

Unable to digest the fact that the world wide web wasn't a British invention; Me Ed would have us believe that the British invented gravity!

But it was! I was around and very active in the industry in those days!

And what is the connection between you and these ancient "Greeks" that leads you to have a premature ejaculation running down your pants?

Purely for the education of Me Ed who needs to move on from Newton's grand British invention of gravity:

Constantin Carathéodory (or Constantine Karatheodori) (Greek: Κωνσταντίνος Καραθεοδωρή) (13 September 1873 – 2 February 1950) was a Greek mathematician. He made significant contributions to the theory of functions of a real variable, the calculus of variations, and measure theory. His work also includes important results in conformal representations and in the theory of boundary correspondence. In 1909, Carathéodory pioneered the Axiomatic Formulation of Thermodynamics along a purely geometrical approach.

Sir Isaac Newton, inventor of modern calculus and gravity.

Isaac Newton did not 'invent' these things. He discovered them, writing in Greek and Latin and building on ideas first developed by Ancient Greek mathematicians and philosophers. So this 'British achievement' was only made possible by astonishing Greek pioneering thinkers hundreds of years earlier...

and the prospect is that the Greeks got the ideas from the older Mesopotamian or Indus valley Civilisations as they did so many other ideas, like writing.

Just because you are a pig-ignorant arsehole and know fuck all about anything it doesn't mean that Greeks have not made considerable achievements in modern times.

In Literature, Cinema, Music, Medical Research, Archaelogy, Biology, Anatomy, Computer Science...

I could go on. But how about getting yourself an education first before complaining about what others have achieved?

Ah Hermes, but I wasn't.

It was Kimon who foolishly started this thread to dis the achievements of the British and got the floor wiped with him.

ancient greeks invented in their own homeland....they didn't travel far, far, far away in other lands got born there, educated there, and commissioned by other countries to do work...if they did they did it for the home country because greece didn't benefit from it...what ever the ancient greeks did "greece" benefitted...

one helluva difference...
