VAT is included. You will just need to pay for shipping, nothing more.

Yes, agreed, all GB retail sites are legally bound to show VAT inclusive prices.

In fact the price listed in Amazon.co.uk includes 20% VAT. If you order from Cyprus you will pay 17% VAT so you will actually pay less than the price listed... but of course you will have to pay more for shipping when you order for Cyprus. So when an item is light (low shipping cost) and expensive (that 3% less VAT makes big difference) you could pay less for ordering the item from Cyprus than you would if you ordered it from the UK. This is for items sold by Amazon.co.uk directly... not the Amazon Marketplace.

There is also the issue of buying in foreign currency (GBP instead of EUR) ... your Visa / MasterCard etc may charge a small percentage for the exchange (conversion fee)... how much depends on the specific card ... it ranges from 0% to 5%. Mine is about 2.5%. Of course if you have a credit card in GBP you will not have to pay this fee.

So Amazon automatically detects your delivery address & calculates the appropriate VAT at checkout without any further effort from the purchaser? Or is it more complicated (e.g. they care in what country your credit card is registered?)

I've considered buying from there a few times but the main sticking point is how poor my local post office is. I reckon I get <50% of my mail so I'm wary of allowing anything of value to be sent through them.

It is all done automatically based on delivery address.

Be aware that it is only Amazon that will ship to Cyprus - some products on the site are available from multiple suppliers and the others won't ship here.
