This motion should go further... no progress at all, zero, zilch on Turkish accession, 'til every single bleeding Turkish soldier leaves CY and 'til Turkey ends its interference in CY... and the near 1 Billion Euros a year Convergence Funding should be suspended.

Do you really think the two faced British parliamentarians will support this action. After all if Tony Blair and his wife have relatives exploiting the refugee properties in the occupied area, how would they go with supporting this motion.

Believe this is being pushed at the European Parliament by the CY MEPs such as Eleni Theocharos and not at the GB Parliament file.

Yes. The truth is it's a useful propaganda issue. Turkey cannot proceed with accession without recognition and without the implementation of the Ankara Protocol. The veto has been exercised on Turkey's accession in effect. It would be good to formalize this suspension however through the EU Parliament rather than the annual lack-of-progress report. The accession funds are the crucial bit. These should not be paid out while Turkey's accession is effectively frozen.

You do realize of course that whenever you highlight the smallness of the RoC you also highlight the microscopic (amoeba level) TC community!

Absolutely, and someone needs to get Enlargement Commissioner Fule to think again about what he calls a "positive agenda" for Turkish Accession and to stop signing those Convergence Fund cheques drawn on the accounts of hard-pressed European Tax-Payers. 5000 Million Euros so far and they'll be another 900 Million in 2013.

What on earth can possibly be "positive" with Turkey continuing its occupation, issuing regular threats against CY, refusing to respect CY Sovereignty, refusing to abide by the Protocol, refusing to respect the CY EEZ etc etc.

Much of the lack of respect by your beloved Turkiye is towards the Institutions and the Protocols of the combined Union.

What pipeline? The one that isn't getting built you mean?

Have you been living in a cave these last few years?

Which small country is sitting on a big lake of gas that the Europeans are very keen to get their hands on?

Turkey has signed agreements that contain no such conditions. It should abide by what it signs.

Anyone else get the impression that Lordo lives in a Turkish Grotto with very little reading material.
