It's not the ancient name fool. It's the proper name. 'istanbul' is the temporary occupation name of the city. But soon it will be free... :wink:


Even Istanbul is Greek as it derives from "εἰς τὴν Πόλιν" meaning "to the city".

You shouldn't because Byzantium is a contemporary word.

The Greek lies are based on the delusion that the Eastern Roman Empire was Greek but that of course is baloney based on the fact that the Greek language was in use!

It’s like Britain claiming the world to be British just because English is currently very popular. :roll:

The Greek language was used, in Greek territories, by Greeks practicing a Greek version of some religion connected to ancient Greek gods. So Greek!

(The rest used Latin, which is why it didn't die out until very recently!)

Reminds me of "Hora/Χώρα" meaning "Country" (i.e. Nicosia) :?
