This is precisely how they scapegoated Greece to bring her down with high interest rates etc.

It was predictable that Greece being spent, they would move on to bringing down Cyprus with the same arguments.

Which is why we should have opposed harder, those anti-Greek posters. They paved the way for these attacks on Cyprus.

Please think with your heart.

Surely we talk about a different psychiatric term here, not 'megalomania' but 'paranoid delusion'

Who are 'they' & what possible interest could an outside force have in debasing the entire western economy for the sake of a couple of minor ports?

Cyprus perhaps has some usefulness as a listening post & local base for keeping an eye on the middle east but this is much diminished in the modern age with satellite technology, nuclear submarines & in-air re-fueling.
Greece has effectively no strategic merit whatsoever.

I am certainly not 'anti' either Greece or Cyprus but you really need to get a grip with respect to your view of how important these countries are to superpowers & how much thought they give to subjugating them

Get Real! wrote:I have difficulty recalling an incident other than the 50s Suez Canal debacle, when Cyprus served as a “strategic” point. If Britain was to calculate the money she’s wasted by being on Cyprus all these decades she could’ve purchased Egypt 100 times over!

It's called OTH radar the Americans use it for surveillance of Russia and china.. Very unique position of Cyprus with mountain and sea ...
