I do not forget that governments in Turkey may come and go, but the strategy of the neighbour remains the same in depth of time, unseen by the ignorant and naive.
I do not forget that Turkey knows very well how to play the game of propaganda. It uses all means, including, the volume of its population, the rich bacsish, its geographical position, the image of a moderate Islamic democracy, to distort reality and present a magical picture.
The neo Ottoman propaganda is considered to be one of the most successful in world history, competing with those of Nazi Germany and the USSR. Even the flooding of Greece with Turkish TV series is part of the influence which the neo Ottomans are trying to impose on the minds of the Greeks, in order to persuade them that the good, the ideal society – respectful to the family and to traditions ….-is the turkish-Muslim society…..
I do not forget that modern Turkey speaks of religious freedoms and the rights of national minorities, after having eliminated them with genocides and continuous violent and mass deportations. Its representatives speak with audacity and insolence about values and rights, provoking the intelligence and the aesthetics of any civilized human being. They look like the Terminator of the story who offered freedom and imposed peace on his dead victims ... The rights of the Greeks, Armenians, Assyrians, Jews, Alevis and Kurds will be given when they fully succumb to the wills of neo Ottoman Empire or they are wiped out. For communication and financial – tourist purposes, the Turks permit the conduct of religious masses in ruined churches and demolished monasteries of Asia Minor after all Greeks who had been living there were eliminated. They exploit artfully the feelings of the Rum thus building a positive but false image..
I do not forget that the slightest retreat in any part of Hellenism means a crucial blow to the existence of the whole of Hellenism. The neo Ottomans are well aware of this. Some Greeks want to ignore it. Attila always threatens the Republic of Cyprus and Greece. Special alert is needed on the island, Thrace and the Aegean. And we must acquire freedom of movement and of actions. We can not be continuously under the threat of war by Turkey and submit ourselves our country under prohibition in relation to our EEZ and the continental shelf. It is unacceptable that were Turkey is disturbed the international law and the international treaties do not apply.
I do not that according to the neo Ottoman perceptions of Mr. Davutoglu the Greeks living in Greece and in the Diaspora and those originated from the unforgettable Homelands of Asia Minor are under his "protection", because he considers them "children of the Ottoman Empire." Not hiding his vision that the Greeks will become Ottoman subjects again.
I do not forget that Turkey considers the Ecumenical Patriarchate as a local "Turkish institution" (of Constantinople) subject to the supervision and control of the Prefect of Constantinople and the Turkish government. With this concept Turkey demands that it cooperates with the state administration and that it complies with existing laws even if said laws are obviously unjust and contrary to basic human rights and religious freedoms. Example: the confiscation of properties of the Greek Community and the closure of the Chalki Seminary.
I do not forget that methods the neo Ottomans are promoting methodically the “Islamic bow” which they also connect with the similar one of the Islamic countries of Caucasus. The strategy also includes the support of Skopje in all their moves hostile to Greece.
Finally, without forgetting the neo Ottoman strategy, I hold no grudge, nor do I have negative feelings about the neighbours, many of whom are descendants of Islamized Greeks, many are oppressed Alevites and Kurds, while many are them remain crypto-Christians. I want to coexist with them peacefully and respecting each other. But I can not retreat from my principles and from justice just because the leadership of their country wants to impose this on me.
