It was the first cross-border violence in five years between Turkish troops and Kurdish guerrillas who Turkey says shelter in northern Iraq.

This process should be a “managed and controlled orderly transition” that does not drive forward the specific demands of particular ethnic or sectarian groups, the official said.
Following a stable transition process in the conflict-hit country, “The Syrian people should decide the future of the entire country,” the source said.
Ankara objects to the possibility of any safe haven for the PKK in northern Syria similar to that which the organization enjoys in the Kandil Mountains of northern Iraq.
In northern Iraq, Kurds have carved out a semiautonomous region, and fears are on the rise in Turkey that the same could happen on the country’s doorstep in northern Syria.

It's more than just double standards, it looks like Erdo is eyeing up his next conquest under the pretext of engaging the PKK in Syria. They pinched a bit of Syria last century now they are after a bit more. I wonder how close the US will allow them to get to Israel. A Turkey/Israel border - America's worst nightmare.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reasserted on Thursday that Turkey will take measures to prevent Syrian Kurdish groups affiliated with the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) from ruling northern Syria, a day after he announced that intervention in Syria is an “undisputed right” if terrorists within the troubled southern neighbor pose a threat to Turkey.

OIC, Ankara warn Israel against using mosque as venue for wine festival
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and a senior Turkish government official have warned Israel against organizing a wine festival in the courtyard of the historic Be'er Sheva Mosque which is scheduled for Sept. 5-6.
OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu strongly criticized Israel on Saturday over its plans to use the mosque as a venue for a wine festival to promote the products of Israeli winemakers.
The Be'er Sheva Mosque was built during the Ottoman reign of the region and was turned into an Islamic museum on the orders of an Israeli high court in 2011.
İhsanoğlu described the recent plan as a violation to be added to the crime of closing the mosque and preventing Muslims from praying there.
“This violation is part of a series of ongoing attacks against Islamic sanctuaries and antiquities in Palestine aimed at obliterating and desecrating them, which is a deliberate provocation of Muslims in all parts of the world,” İhsanoğlu stated.
