hi all, can someone tell me what is the law regarding the army, is it law that you have to join the army for x amount of years, and what age must you be? can you chose when you want to go? how does it work then if you live in another country like england will you still have to do your army time? a lot of questions but i bet my cyprus freinds will know.

We know, but it is so bloody complicated! To get specific information you need to give details of the person you think may be eligible, with parents and grandparents nationalities, age, place of birth, and inside leg measurement!! Whether their name sounds Cypriot or not can make a difference!

yes i was confused as i have read conflicting views and very one has a different opinon.
I was more thinking alone the line of if you were born in cyprus, and then left in the 50's how would you be inforced to do your time in the army, if you would have to do your service before you left...if you can chose when you want to go or it's something you have to do soon as you leave school

...and you posted it to start with!! This is not on the Government web-site, it takes them at least a year to update anything!

... oh and the CY MoD site has removed the rules on National Service...!!!!

at what age do you have to do your army sentence? is it 18 or do you get to chose? iam more interested in the 50s...would you be allowed to come to england without going into the army?
And what about a passport? if you come to england and live there, what happens if and when you go back to cyprus? not found much infor on the net.
