Turkish Governor of Occupied Cyprus Issues Firman to Drive on the Right

The Press in the Occupied Areas of Cyprus write of Orders from Turkey to further assimilate the Occupied Areas with another Segregationist Edict...

Instructions have now been issued by the Turkish Governor of the Occupied Areas (who calls himself the "Turkish Ambassador") to the Illegal Regime, through its ever-willing to do Turkey's bidding and puppet lap-dog Dervis Eroglu, to adopt the same Drive on the Right road system as in Turkey.

The report (translated in summary below by the Press Office of the Republic) comes in Afrika and gives the reaction of the popular Opposition movement to this Edict from Turkey...

...Turkish Cypriot daily Afrika (03.07.12) reports on statements by the general secretary of KTOS trade union Sener Elcil, who in a written statement yesterday said that in the framework of the integration and assimilation policies followed by Turkey to occupied Cyprus, an action plan under the name "traffic action plan" has been prepared for the traffic stream in occupied Cyprus in order to pass from the left direction of driving to the right, as it is in Turkey.
In statements on the issue, Elcil said that the traffic issue has been discussed in a meeting on April 17 during which the so-called Turkish ambassador was also present. He further said that the efforts which are exerted to change the traffic stream of the occupation regime are under the name "Traffic action plan", and added that it is a part of the efforts of Turkey to implement its assimilation and separatist policy, by using the traffic issue as an excuse. Elcil continued and wondered in which other independent "country", an ambassador can interfere even to issues related to traffic....

garbage rots in the streets, water carries typhoid, but, "they'll" be spending money on switching the roadways from left to right because it is not "Turkish" enough.

...this hurts, it's not even funny, it's just plain wrong. it's not even wrong in a nice way, it's ignorant.

I care because i am Cypriot, and it is not easy for me to laugh at such misfortune.

...if there is ridicule, it is toward this fake administration; you would think that a country as powerful as Turkey is able to do better.

RW, it is Turkey which doesn't care. The TCs can rot in hell as far as Turkey is concerned. All this goes to show is the total contempt Turkey has for the TCs...

...indeed, it is Erdogan which does not care, he calls the TC parasites, he may have contempt for them, while he will call the rest of the Cypriot population "Greeks", but his real contempt is for the rest of the world.

To make the implementation of this edict easier they are going to use a staggered approach to the changeover. Cars with "odd" registration numbers will start driving on the right on August 1st, while those with "even" registration numbers will make the changeover on September 1st.

Around drousia and kato arodes they have been testing this system for years but with a suble twist .... Zivania

I cannot believe how irresponsibly the TC's are misbehaving with the Birth Country. It shows such lack of honour and respect.... am speechless at times with the uneducated decisions based on racist ideology.
