Greek Cypriot cemetery in occupied Trachoni bulldozed

Postby Hermes » Tue Jul 03, 2012 9:14 pm

Under the front-page title: “They flattened the Greek Cypriot cemetery in Trachoni”, Turkish Cypriot daily Afrika newspaper reports that Turkish Cypriot authorities have flattened the Greek Cypriot cemetery in occupied Trachoni village in order to build a police station.

Writing in his daily column in the paper, columnist Sener Levent criticized the flattening of the cemetery and writes that the gravestones were transferred to another place.

That’s because you used to eat yours! It’s an Ottoman custom to consume one’s dead relatives and inherit their fighting spirit.
