Division might seem like the best option for you. Just as apartheid was seen as the best option for the racist Afrikaners in South Africa. The question is whether division is in the best interests of the majority of Cypriots and what sort of precedent this would set in international affairs if a state could be allowed to violate international law the way Turkey has done in Cyprus.

That is why the international community has decreed that division is not the right solution for Cyprus. Even if you think it is. Even the Afrikaners eventually realised that they only harmed themselves by insisting on racist privileges at the expense of democracy and peace...

...what is being asked by Mankind of Cypriots, is to define Bicommunal in a manner where it is a betterment to anyone who may emulate it. (Turkey, (allow me to get in my dig), is not capable of things new in thinking because, as a State it can be said that, she is still entering the Modern Age.) it is up Cypriots to lead, now passed and into the Information Age, with a nature that can nurture and sustain the variety of its population, unlike the Kemalists, but for them, so that their Citizens' can have the widest array of choices; i do go on, but seriously, will you please read my manifesto.

is simple, Bicommunal not bad.

Unitary State: Individual Rights, a Sovereign Identity for all Citizens

and at another level of governance...

Cypriot Constituencies: equals as Persons, within Territorial Jurisdictions self-representing these needs.

...guys, and ladies, don't forget, the population of Cyprus is bound to change significantly (so too the demographics) in the not so distant future, what is wrong with the People as Cypriots choosing, (pop. 12 million) by where they reside, to vote for a National Assembly which serves a Greek, Turk, Maronite, etc.,as a Majority first, (and in the future long term maybe more) and as such demonstrating their Goodwill to others as Minorities; vp are you reading? ...and what is wrong for all Cypriots to vote as Human Beings, when it comes to the Universal Principals we expect a State, and a Federal Government, to defend without any prejudice. ((vp has agreed to this, by the way; so he gets huffy because quite frankly you guys are huffy, never mind that he is huffy too.) he just doesn't believe GC's as he calls them are prepared to make the same compromise.)

is a Greek Constituecy such a bad thing?

Federal means, not a Greek State, but a Cypriot State, as in Bicommunal Bizonal; it is a question of interpretation and intent, that is all. i see no better way to defend the existing Constituencies, within a Sovereign Identity; a weight by land that its electors can effect as a Distinct Identity , while as Individuals they stand united for the betterment of the Human Condition.

Hermes I think we also need to to hold TC's accountable for the Cyprus issue and not re-direct blame fully on Turkey. This 55,000 minority group not only have gifted OUR Country to the Turks they are running part of the culture of Cyprus which includes them as shaping Cyprus cultural identity and differentiating Cyprus from both Greece and Turkey.

Don't worry, humanist. They are paying for their betrayal with isolation, sanctions and a slow extinction. The strange thing is they now seem to have noticed that they lost their 'rights' under the RoC. I wonder if the RoC Pesidency has anything to do with this new found sense of what they have lost and what they have ceded to the Greek Cypriots?
