Exactly. Turkey needs the EU because it needs to attract foreign investment. Once it's clear that Turkey cannot join the EU then confidence in Turkey will decline as will that investment. Turkey cannot keep playing the game for ever. Sooner or later that investment will go elsewhere. In other words, Turkey will harm itself economically by not joining the EU and by not reforming. It will be held back by being outside the EU.

The ideology of Turkey being closer to the EU than actually joining is more important thats why they will never officially say its overs the ball is in the EU court but they know that officially rejecting Turkey would not only upset the USA but lose Turkey to the east forever which would create a problems in itself eg drugs people trafficking etc.

The EU is worried about upsetting the Yanks? F*ck the septics!

Turkey is already responsible for drugs, people trafficking, etc.!

The EU has started accession. The rest is up to Turkey. Turkey has to follow the rules. It can't blackmail its way in. Turkey has lost a lot of credibility in the EU over Cyprus and things are much more difficult now for Turkey. The Turks have shot themselves in the foot over Cyprus. They never understood that withdrawing from Cyprus is actually the first test on which their EU membership hangs. I think they get it now. But like I said, it's up to Turkey to move the process forward...

Herpees Turkey has much bigger problems on her plate than Cyprus, she will never solve those so your little trick of entering the EU to force Turkey into submission just wont work and the leverage you dreamed of has all gone out of the window, Turkey is not a European country and will never be allowed in at best she will have some special deal but this is not what she wants and she is not stupid she knows that no progress will be made so she will play the we want to join card and milk it for all its worth...welcome to International politics.

All the EU has to do to get the north back from Turkey is to stop trading with Turkey when the time comes if Turkey is not willing to let Cyprus have a settlement based on EU principles. Turkey need not become an EU member to get her out of the north. Turkey economy depends on the EU and not the other way around.

The EU has already gotten 100% of Cyprus from Turkey's claws in 2004 with the failure of the AP and without a single shot being fired. The same will happen again to kick Turkey out of the north, again without a single shot being fired by the EU.

And you believed that the EU supported the AP.

Kikapoo making these sort of claims is cheap, it will never happen but no one will be around to see it so claiming it is no more than speculation. You are putting all your money on the EU handing the whole of Cyprus to you GCs on a plate but you under estimate Turkeys role, has any other country stood up to the EU as Turkey has done shes has said not ports unless isolation is eased on the TRNC and stuck to her guns...what has the EU done in response absolutely nothing please dont say block her EU path it werent going anywhere anyway. The EU card is redundant they dont give a shit about a few thousand spoilt begging for bailout GCs, they thrw you out and into the UN arena saying they support a solution managed by them which produced your biggest nightmare the AP. I to can predict what will happen and be far more precise than you, the GCs wil get none of the north back, not 1 Turkish Soldier will leave and more Turkish settlers will arrive in the TRNC increasing our numbers, do you know why because the GCs are not clever enough to stop anything, they are not innovative nor do they really want a solution unless it reduces us to minority status in our own country.

I don’t know what you’re still yapping about VP! As if Turkey would ever accept “Turkish Cypriots” to run anything independently!

What you’ve got now is the best it will ever get for as long as it lasts, so enjoy it and be quiet!

Why are you worried? If you think Turkey won't abandon the north why do you care what the GCs are doing?
