Have faith in the Turkish messiah…

What began as blatant Turkish propaganda by the Anatolia News Agency yesterday in an attempt to undermine Cyprus’ foreign officials protocol, seems to have backfired in Turkey’s face as the alleged incident (swiftly denied by both Cyprus and Iran) has gone viral in Jewish media earning Cyprus kudos from Israeli and American circles!

It seems that poor Erdogan cannot get anything right these days, the man who in the space of two months has raised more eyebrows than all the previous Turkish governments managed in the last 50 years!

A good collection of links - especially on the Turkish economic bubble. I also never knew about Erdogan's crusade against theatres and actors. Seems like Turkey is heading the way of Iran with the Mad Mullah Erdogan in charge...

GR, I believe you have stated this before, that Cyprus's Plan "B", is Erdogan!

So far the Plan B is working just fine.

My only concern was always whether or not Erdogan would have enough time (in office) to complete the deliverance of Cyprus, given that he’s in his 3rd term (already extended from 2 to 3 terms with Turkish abracadabra) but my concerns have recently been put to rest since realizing that Erdogan’s consolidation of power has reached a near perfect state!

Presidential System or Not: Erdoğan will Remain Sole Political Executive

"Two years is a long time to make any predictions, especially in politics. For the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), however, current Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdoğan’s role as the next President of Turkey is a sure thing. With presidential elections in 2014 still a long way off in the minds of some, sources have reported that Erdoğan is already set as the choice for president. The AK Party controls almost 50% of the votes in Turkey, making his nomination, for all intents and purposes, also his election. Regardless of the certainty of the nomination and election, the AK Party’s political unity and consolidated power base ensures that it will be “business as usual” for Turkey’s political leadership."

How far will Erdogan go to stay in power?

"But Erdoğan’s rule has another, darker side, which the West seems intent on ignoring: an increasingly harsh campaign to crush domestic opposition. In the past five years, more than seven hundred people have been arrested, including generals, admirals, members of parliament, newspaper editors and other journalists, owners of television networks, directors of charitable organizations, and university officials. Some fifteen per cent of the active admirals and generals in the Turkish armed forces are now on trial for conspiring to overthrow the government."

Well, the other thing that might reduce Erdogan's terms in office, is his Colon Cancer. At the moment he does not seem to have any medical problems, but this could all change at a "drop of a hat"!
