Catherine Ashton, the EU foreign policy chief, who also expressed concern over the incident, said as she went into the talks: "We'll be looking to Turkey to be restrained in its response." EU diplomats have long warned against military options in the Syrian crisis and have been working for weeks on helping to build a credible opposition to Assad in order to find a political road out of the bloodshed.

Will Turkey comply or will she defy?

Sweden's Carl Bildt, just back from a tour of the region with EU counterparts, reiterated the bloc's stand that a political solution was the sole current option.

"The further the violence goes on and the militarization of the conflict, the more difficult it will be to avoid an outcome that could well result in sectarian fragmentation of the entire region, with devastating consequences in the years to come," he said.

I'm pleased to see Catherine Ashton being more restrained in her usually unfettered support and backing of anything Turkish.

Time to take Turkey's NATO toys away, now!

Give a man enough rope and enough room and he will hang himself.

I have said it before and I will say it again, before Erdogan and company leave office, they will bring turkey to her knees with probably the majority of the Turkish population still jeering him on.

Turkey never goes to adventures if she does not have the full support (political and military) of the US and the major NATO countries. Just see how and when it invaded Cyprus. Only after she had the assurance that 1. She would be assisted (at least politically) and 2. Greece would not be allowed to interfere.

Any news about Turkey's retaliation against Syria? NO? I suppose the Boss signaled "SIT" to his mongrel.
