How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Those Phantoms must be partially fossilized by now. No wonder.

Not at all. Both Greece and Turkey have modernized some of their F4s and they are very useful. The Turks modernized them for ground attacks while the Greek version is for air superiority and BVR roles (Beyond Visual Range weapons). Engines have been replaced, cockpits and radars upgraded.

Turkey says it will take ‘steps’ after determining that Syria shot down missing jet

By Liz Sly, Published: June 22 | Updated: Saturday, June 23, 5:37 AM

BEIRUT — Turkey vowed to take “necessary steps” after concluding that Syria shot down a Turkish fighter jet near the Syrian border on Friday, sending tensions soaring in the already fraught region.

In a terse statement issued after an emergency security meeting summoned by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish government said that a missing F-4 fighter jet had been brought down by Syria. The statement said Turkey “will make its final position known once the evidence is fully uncovered and will determinedly take necessary steps.”

NO Turkish "False Flag" Operation

Postby supporttheunderdog » Sat Jun 23, 2012 7:36 am

The Syrians have admitted to shooting down the plane.

According to Erdogan's Offce
Erdogan's Office wrote:Following the evaluation of data provided by our related institutions and the findings of the joint search and reduce efforts with Syria, it is understood that our plane was downed by Syria,"
.

Mr Erdogan promised that Turkey's response would be both
Erdogan wrote: "decisive" and carried out with "determination". Although he did not divulge what steps he was contemplating, a senior member of his ruling party had earlier declared that if the aircraft was shown to have been shot down by Syria it would amount to a "declaration of war".

Syria confirmed that it had brought down the aircraft, saying in a statement:
Syria wrote:"Our air defences confronted a target that penetrated our air space over our territorial waters pre-afternoon on Friday and shot it down. It turned out to be a Turkish military plane."

So as usual Turkey engages in provocative acts including the illegal invasion of Syrian Airspace and then uses a legitimate (but heavy-handed ) response as a pretence for war. Well they have recently pissed-off their former best mates in the region, Israel, who might have be willing to provide intelligence information, and with massive forces from Russia. China and Iran approaching Syria now is NOT the time for Turkey to try to involve Nato in any sort of campaign in Syria, unless they can finish it before the visitors arrive.

Things could otherwise get very interesting.

Fuller picture emerging. Turkey not so innocent after all ...

The warplane reached Syrian airspace from the west after it had been flying near the occupied area of Cyprus.

Erdogan: "Turkey will present its final stance after the incident has been fully brought to light and decisively take the necessary steps."

If it comes to light that Turkish planes were in the wrong place just like the Solomou person trying to rip down the flag, at the wrong time then Syria had every right to take action.

Syria did, what we don't have the balls to do. Airspace violated, deal with it. Who the F is Turkey to go round shitting and bully it's neighbours, it was inevitable that eventually someone would take action.
I guess turkeys excue will be to go in and save the TCs again!

What a dick, Solomou was in his own country not violating anyone elses, unlike you mama nation always shitting on everyone around her.

Perhaps next time you come south, someone may just give you the same treatment you judge as "ok", I suppose if its good for the goose and all that.

Who knows what he was but he could have ripped the flag down and then killed someone, we will never know.
