Dear Admin,
I would like to bring to your notice that one of my posts in the General Chat was removed.
There was no proper reason and I was not informed.
Just because the moderator likes Russia does not mean that the person can go removing posts pertaining to Russia in general.
I would also like to bring to your notice that my comments were not aimed at insulting any person in particular.
I have my right to freedom of expression and freedom of speech and I do not think I have violated any rules of the forum.
Please look into this matter, I would like to see my deleted post back again, as for the apologies from the particular moderator I do not really care.
Thanks

dms007,

Your post was removed by me. A member was offended by your comment and since this is not the first time that you make a similar remark - http://www.cyprus-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3642 - I decided that your post should be removed along with a reply to it.

I hope you would agree that such kind of comments are not very friendly and should be avoided.

If you prefer heated discussions rather than friendly ones then try the Politics sections. No politician complained so far.

Thanks

I would like to know what was wrong with that particular comment.
I believe that the adminstrator cannot remove comments based on just complaints. If that were the case then each post would be offensive for someone.
I would have accepted if there was something substantial in it, what did you find wrong in that comment.
What I posted there was the truth, nobody in Cyprus can deny that.
I think instead of deleting posts on just some complaint, the administrator should investigate the veracity of the posts and then delete it if it is false.

I still stand by the fact that I have not broken any rules of the forum.
And I would still need an explanation from the person who found my post offensive.

As for the the Syrian post that you had mentioned, I have also clarified with another post

hey iam just having some fun, no offence intented.
this is being given too much importance, my messages are for just reading and laughing, sometimes at somebodys expense
i have nothing against anybody or any country.
so secret girl, when you come over to cyprus you are welcome to spend a night or two with me, and show me how good syria is.

If the administrator is so much particular about complaints, here is one from me.
Why does the admin have so many stars with so few posts?
I agree admin having a few previliges, like deleting posts.
I register a strong complaint that the administrator is being above the rules.
I would like to see the administrator to be with as many stars that are eligible for the number of posts that he has made.
OR maybe have someother symbol, stars must be recieved only for reaching a certain number of posts.

Hi dms

Firstly, I should explain the Administrator 'owns' the site, so he/she does not need a minimum number of posts to qualify as Admin. It is his 'club' we have all decided to join and he/she stes the Rules.

Secondly, while you may have meant the 'Syrian' post in good humour (and i hope you did) not everyone has English as their first language and things can be misunderstood. Also, humour varies amongst different nationals so what you may find amusing might be offensive to others; so racial stereotyping should be avoided, even when meant as a joke.

Finally, I did not see your 'Russian' posting, so cannot comment on it; if however, you disgaree with my actions as Mod, why not approach me firstly to get an understanding of what I have done? It saves bothering Admin who in normal circumstances might not even have seen the posting. Because I am out of the country, currently, I have not been able to log in each day thus Admin saw it first- but normally I will put a note that I have deleted or edited something, with a couple of words exp-laing why.

You have assumed, I am pro-Russia; please judge me by my actions not my background.

Cheers

Well there was no note explaining why mys message was deleted, so I posted another message saying that "I expect to me intimated when someone deletes my post".
Since I did not get any reply from you, the moderator, I made a post to the admin.
I don't break the rules of hirearchy, since there was no reply from you, I went to the admin.
I called you biased because I thought the moderator deleted the message, because usually that is the way it is, I did not know that the admin deleted it.
If I knew it I would have made a post saying "Biased Admin".

The admin could have left a message saying why he did that, even though he owns this site.
And I still dont find anything wrong in my post.
There is a thread called "What is cheap in Cyprus"

I made a post --- "Russian Women"
Olga posted --- "dms007"
I Posted --- "I wish I were"

It was in good humor, I did not find how that can offend anyone, maybe the admin is Russian!

Hi dms

Well, I agree that it is helpful if a reason is given whenever someone feels the need to delete or edit a post. I hope you can see that for many people here, to suggest Russian women are cheap', is offensive.

Perhaps Admin is Russian - or perhaps he/she thinks racial stereotyping is in appriopriate. We all know Cyprus would be a happier place without the racial prejudices that divide this wonderful country.

Cheers
