The police appear to have a new trick of having two speed traps on the highway one after the other - lost of people see the first trap, slow down, go past and speed up. The second is situated just so, so that you do not see it in time.

Saw this in action a couple of time recently on the Nicosia - Limassol Highway near Kornos and the Larnaca- Limassol highway near Kofinou.

Correct, I saw this Wednesday just passed (I kid you not) 3!!, one after the other as I was coming back from Nicosia.

Was hitting 110 km/h average.
Slowed down for the fist, missed the 2nd and 3rd but wasn't stopped.

Common gossip has it that 110-115 you are less likely to be stopped - 120 plus and they will pull you.

These days I tend to stick to close to the 100 mark on the highways - I average about 41-42 mpg / or 6.78 l/100km at that speed: it drops off quite quickly if I avarege more than say 120, down to 35 mpg or 8.5/100 or so, and I only take a few minutes off the majority of trips. that is a 16% or so saving on fuel. Not to besneezed at with a weekly family mileage of close to 1500km.
