No this is racist -

Greeks: 17.3% (31,044) - Lazy economic migrants or drunken pontians
British: 14,8% (26,659) - over weight, under dressed, Zimmer frame wheeling ,daily mail reading, whining bigots
Romanian: 13.6% (24,376)- Gypsy thieves or taverna workers ( probably both )
Bulgarian: 10.7% (19,197)- Will actually work- usually at restaurants or as gardeners
Philipinos: 5.4% (9,744)- House slaves
Russian: 4.8% (8,663)- Russians .... Enough said
Sri Lankan: 4.1% (7,350)- House slaves
Vietnamese: 4% (7,102)- Housr slaves
Syrian: 1.8% (3,235)- unemployed builders
Ukrainian: 1.7% (3,023) - drunks
Polish: 1.6% (2,951)- semi skilled drunks
Indian: 1.6% (2,955)- house slaves
Georgian: 1.2% (2,113) - bank robbing drunks
German: 0.6% (1,162) - keeping a low profile

I'm not actually racist or discriminatory ...... I dislike pretty much everyone :D :D :D

If you take this seriously and are offended ... I'm not sorry - You need to get a life

Russians are concentrated in a few areas mostly in Limassol along the west coast of the city. Also there are many Russian speaking foreigners who are not Russian... like Ukrainians and Pontians (who are counted as Greek and not Russian)

i am very well aware of the difference between Russian Speaking non-Russian citizens and Russian citizens and where the Russians mostly live. which is why houses and some apartments along the coast from the Crown Plaza/Holiday Inn/Churchill, mostly eastwards, continue to command high prices.

I am told Heritage School has something like 85% of pupils who are Russian Speakers, and with Putin in power I expect a lot more Russians will move down here to escape his corrupt tyranny.

Maybe the Russians are more mobile - come and go more frequently - and this census just captures one day in a particular year.

Or maybe we think there are more Russians than there are simply because they stand out more ... You know, their houses are bigger, their voices are louder ...

(Hello, where is Svetlana these days? Very quiet ...)

the figures of legal permanent non-Cypriot residents should be available within the immigation department who should hold records of the yellow cards issuefd to various nationalities, but yes a number of Russians do come and go as tourists to minimise any official profile here.

And yes their houses tend to be bigger but I would not describe them generally as having louder voices, at least not the ones I know.

There is a very rapid exspansion of Russian speakers in the Paphos locality. Are Russians really louder than other nationals? Maybe, I associate a degree of arrogance with any nation which once had a large empire - it takes time to die away. i am not sure that the popular image of the gold chain bedecked husband - and the wife trying to squeeze into a bikini two sizes too small is really a true one :-)
