breakfast information for cooking book

Postby BBcookie » Sun Jun 10, 2012 3:15 pm

Hi, I'm writing a book about breakfast habits in all European countries. I've never been in Cyprus, so maybe some of you can tell me more about this subject. What do you eat for breakfast (on working days and in the weekend)? Do you take the time for having breakfast or is it just grabbing something to eat and hurry to school or work? Do you have (names of) recipes for specific Cypriotic breakfast meals? What kind of bread do you eat? Do you also eat some kind of porridge in the morning? Do you drink milk, coffee, tea? Thanks a lot.........

Mainly just coffee. Sometimes cereal. Not much of a breakfast culture.

Pfff, not much of an answer, is it? Is there really no breakfast tradition on Cyprus?

It used to be some bread, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and some halloumi.

Hi, this is the first serious answer I receive. Thanks. Can you be more descriptive. What kind of bread? Is this the flat bread. And do you just pick some tomatoes, pieces of cucumber etc and eat some bread? Or do you eat this as a salad for your breakfast? No sweat things for breakfast. Do you maybe have a picture to send to my e-mail address?

Hi, thanks for your reply. Can you please be more precise. We also eat bacon with eggs for breakfast, but what do you do with beans. Is this like the English do? Beans in tomato sauce? I think the fried halloumi is the most Cypriotic I can discover, the other dishes are rather English. Is that correct?

He is English ;) I eat cereals... almost nobody has the time to cook in the morning. Many people just drink coffee or milk, some eat cereal. Those who eat anything more complicated than that are a small minority.
