Not giving the guy a chance to speak? We have been listening and reading his ideas as they filter out from the talks. He was the one who invented the Joint Property development corporations. For those that forgot that brilliant idea it was basically this: Post solution the TCs would keep their part of the island basically free from any sizeable GC presence. The GCs who lost their land would be paid compensation. And here comes the icing on the cake- the TC property in the south would not be relinquished to the GC side, neither to the the state nor to individuals, it would be jointly developed. In short the TCs would get to keep GC land in the north and could profit from their land in the south. And no doubt as major stakeholders in property would also have a major say in local affairs in the south.

This is the sort of brilliance that marks this guy? If so, it reminds me of Salvador Dali responding to a BBC intervewer about who is the best painter in the world: "Dali is the best, not because he is so good, but because everyone else is so bad".

SImilarly this kind of brilliance depends on the others being so dumb.

The TC community was a pawn from the day Ankara set in motion its Cyprus policy, after WWII if not earlier. In the confusion of communal conflict the policy was not easily discernible. Post 1974, a time when this dude lived through, the policy became crystal clear. It was and is and is planned in the future as straighforward territorial conquest accompanied by ethnic cleansing. Ozersay cannot see that in this scheme of things neither TCs nor GCs have a chance. Turkey has been doing gradually to the TCs what it did rapidly in 1974 to the GCs. The two survival assets that we have are RoC satehood and membership in the EU.

I expected an open mind to point this out and urge for a solution that preserves both of these factors, because they are vital to the survival of BOTH communities. Instead he prattles on about the TCs becoming a community again.

If Ozersay is an example of the brains that count as movers and shakers in the north, meaning that they are just as bad as what there is in the south, God help us all.

It's no wonder they face extinction in the north. I'm afraid the TC leadership bear heavy responsibility for leading their community into the abyss...
