Moving to Cyprus

Postby Charmagne » Tue Jun 05, 2012 10:47 pm

Hi there, I'm new. :o f

We have been to Cyprus a few times now were from the UK, but 2 days ago we decided we would like to try a year. I was just wondering if anyone has any information on where to start? My BF has a job lined up already so we know were ok on the job front.

We have a 4 year old, will be 5 soon. I have heard they don't start school there until there 5yrs 8mnts

Does anyone know where I need to start on what forms we need or if we need a Visa or anything? I will be totally honest and say im lost on this. Were coming over in July for a holiday and hope to move by September this year. We plan on getting a place, for rent, so if you know any good sites that would be great. We will be coming to Larnaka.

Any information would be great!!

Thanks. Charmagne

If you are from the EU, you can stay for up to 6 months without any hassle. That should give you long enough to sort out anything else for staying a bit longer without having to panic whilst you are not even on the island yet. There are centres for helping you (citizens) with most things in all the towns once you are in Cyprus. They have fluent English speakers.

When school is necessary - will you be using a state school? For such a young age, that might be best. Bilingualism is of benefit to better brain development. :)

Even though you will not get any hassle, if more than 90 days stay, you have to register with immigration.
