Diamond Jubilee and Evagoras Pallikarides

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

if the British had killed Pallikarides for his desecration of the Flag in the way that Solomos was killed I would have condemned that to, but he was not . Indeed I am not aware that Pallikarides was in any way prosecuted or otherwise crminilased for what he did with the flag: he did however later join a what I consider to be a terrorist organisation (one man's freedom fighter is another mans' terrorist) and commit criminal offences involving posession of firearms , directed agaainst the then recognised rulers, which he admited.

Now I belive in an independant Cyprus - you do not. That is why my concience is clear in living here.

I believe in a free and democratic Cyprus - something you will never understand. But that's not the gist of my questions to you. Pallikarides didn't join EOKA for another two years (when he was 17 y.o.) and this was because he had no choice as he had been criminalized for the flag incident and anti-British demonstrations. So this was a young boy who believed in freedom for his country who was persecuted and criminalized by the British.

Your fascist stance to your colonial brothers is 'commendable'. Now why are you so comfortable living in a countrly moulded by our freedom fighters decades ago? Or is it that you like living in a country created by 'scumbag terrorists'?

He got what he deserved.

All murdering terrorists should be hung.

He was caught with a gun which he intended to use.

Fortunately he was hung before he had the chance to murder an innocent British soldier who never wanted to fight for a sh-t hole called Cyprus.

I think its time people moved on from this.

These days EOKA (not EOKA B) is never referred to as a terrorist organisation in the mainstream British media and even your average Brit now acknowledges that EOKA was fighting for its freedom from colonial rule.

In WWII the Germans caused considerable damage to the British, but they are friends now, and if they can do it, so can we.

Cyprus and the UK have good relations and are friends now, so please move on ...

I agree with Me Ed. The British have come a long way in acknowledging the crimes conducted by the Empire and should be applauded for this (that's not to say we should not remain vigilant for future misconduct). I especially like the fact the British regretted bringing in the Turks (bit late, but hey ho) and were proposing assistance towards resettling TCs back to Turkey. Also for admitting that a unitary state under the GCs or Cyprus as part of Greece were the solutions most likely to bring long-term peace. Perhaps they can reopen this line of thinking.

However, a few forumers continue with anachronistic, redundant labels which betray their personal political agendas. We shouldn't tolerate such postings.

The GCs hate the British and blame them for everything that ever happened in Cyprus. The 2 countries are not friends and never will be. it is a shame that tourists from UK are not informed of the hatred towards them by GCs or they would never come.

The average Brit has never heard of EOKA B and would be appalled at the number of British soldiers murdered by them in cold blood.

As for Britain admitting to any crimes against Cyprus you are living in a dream world Arab Island Girl.

yes EOKA B did not target British soldiers

As for EOKA I understand that apart from about 150 British Service men, and 50 or so police, possibly they killed 148 Greek Cypriots where apparently about 20 were of known leftists, possibly targeted on the basis of their political affiliations not for any other reason.

Apparently In 1958 55 TSC were killed by EOKA whle TMT, another bunch of scumbag terrorists, killed 60 GSC. TMT also targeted TSC who were anti-partition, or in some cases possibly to settle personal scores.
