We have a Sky dish setup near Paphos. Fair enough it's not getting most of the UK terrestial TV anymore (we do get 5HD, and ITV2/3/4HD in the nights) but most of what we watch is available and we want to continue watching it.
Anyway we just left the UK and didn't tell Sky and just carried on watching on the same card. We are still paying every month and have done for years.
We are now renting out our property in the UK (through a management company) and now they are asking if they can install Sky. Obviously we know it's all a little bit not allowed by Sky to use our card abroad, so don't really want to be admitting anything. *But* if the new tennants do install Sky then will they either be refused by Sky (because an account already exists at the same address) or will they just automatically cut off our old account? Either way we can play ignorant and claim we forgot to cancel when we moved. Note the only other options is Freeview where we live in the UK, no cable. We don't really want to be limiting the tennants viewing options otherwise we may not have tennants...
If it looks unlikely we would keep our Sky account then what other options are there? Don't say Internet as I'm already connected up for all that (UnoDNS) on a Mac Mini to my TV (and we know about all the torrent sites), and already work with a VPN line all day using up loads of bandwidth, but we like Sky for it's functionality, quality, and other channels. I'm thinking other options as in Dreambox (clampdowns?), Sky multiroom (I've heard harder now with only new boxes paired to card and must be on UK phoneline for 12 months but I'd be interested if anyone else does that here on a newer account), or whatever. Would be a bit gutted to get rid of the big dish (is a rental but we haven't had it long and installation costs would be lost).
Cheers
