Really, it is much more simple, you do not need to be an economist to understand the problems of Greece. In fact, Greece has gone through this phase on a number of occasions in its history as a modern state. Basically, because of corruption and megalomaniac ideas, Greece went bankrupt on a number of occasions. In 1986, for example, after Greece lost the war she started against Turkey because of the stupidity of the zealots at the time, she had to pay huge compensations to Turkey and went under international fiscal control in 1987. Deliyiannis who earlier ousted Trikoupis (very democratically in elections where he promised the people that he would abolish taxes) started a stupid war against Turkey and when the Turkish army reached Athens, only the interception of the Tzar saved the day for the Greeks. But, bankruptcy could not be avoided due to the huge compensations Greece was forced to pay to Turkey. I am not sure if Germany was blamed at the time, but the way Greeks think has not changed much since then. Surely not for the better and do you know why?

Read Vasilis Rafaelides! He died in the 1990's but at the end of his story (in the exceptionally prophetic book of his "History (tragicomic) of modern Greece) " of how Greece went bankrupt in 1897 he says: "The next time Greece goes under international fiscal control, this will last for 200 years, at the end of which there would probably be no Greece. The Greeks will eat Greece, together with her debt". At the back of this book Rafaelides wrote:

Dear teacher, Bananiot, i hope you serve strong coffee with your lectures......yawn  yawn...look up Bernie Madoff, and you'll see real corruption to the tune of 50 billion dollars.....All western economies are going through a restructuring/reform stage nowadays, Greece is no exception.....

"Greeks in Cyprus" ??? So you acknowledge there are Greeks in Cyprus!

Re what you posted, well, I was under the impression you were claiming that Greece had agreed to partition with the Turks. Well, if that is so you haven't provided any documentation proving it. Ok, you provided a link to a dead forum, macedoniaontheweb, and some other articles, but none which support your tin-foil hat theory of Greece agreeing to the partition of Cyprus.

Ok, let me put it this way, Boom Boom, your anti-Greek rantings (and that's what they are as you really havent put forth and articulate arguments or provided any reliable source or documentation) all they do is make the Turks glee and applaud you as they say to each other "we were right to invade". Because by demonizing Greece, actually blaming everything on Greece is really supporting Turkish propaganda. Hence, your posts do nothing for Cyprus or a just solution but instead support the Turkish occupation. That really doesn't make you much of a patriot, does it. It makes you an accomplice to the occupation, sorry to say. So keep blabbering away about zee evil Griks and paranoic conspiracy theories as much as you like, but the reality is the Turks and British (ie those who applaud your posts) support a permanent division ie TRNC...Greece does not.

Bananiot wrote:Barouti is a man on a mission, it seems. Greece was ready to ramble in 1964, he boasts. In reality, the Turkish air force was bombing Kokkina during the day and the Royal Greek air force, made sporadic, short appearances over Nicosia during the night. To boost the moral of the GC's. Of course the Americas are to blame again for not allowing Greece to teach those Turks a lesson. Enough with the fairy tales Barouti, we have lost half of our country ... leave us alone!

To quote: leave us alone!

Ha ha ha, is that so Banananiot. You're telling a Kalamaride to stay out of Cyprus' affairs and yet seem very, very opinionated with Greece's internal affairs. So if you don't see yourself as Greek then why so concerned what happens in zee evil land of the Kalamarades. But of course, it's the lure of the motherland. And you may try to hold some logical highground over me as you're a Cypriot, but I obviously give me of a shit over Cyprus than you do. Reading your posts, I see a lot of butt-kissing towards the Turks. You're not different from the Lefty Epialtes in Greece. Their idea of rapproachment with the Turks consists of appeasement ie whatever you demand we shall give if it means you will like us. And of course its all about finding not commin interests but common hatred particularly against Greek patriotism. And that's exactly what makes you a hypocrite. You're bent on hating all right-wing and patriot Greeks, in both Greece and Cyprus, and letting them know it, and yet take a soft and butt-kissing attitude with right-wing Turks. Because you are obviously so stupid to realise the obvious: THE TURKS WANT A DIVIDED CYPRUS!!! By blaming everything on Greece all you're doing is confirming the Turkish nationalist mythology that the invasion was about stopping the alleged genocide against the TC's and not the real reason which was realising their policy of taksim. Geeze, you're such a fool. And no, I will continue to express my opinions on Cyprus especially since I will argue with historical facts and keep reminding the indoctrinated Turks that 1974 was about Taksim. And it's Greeks like me, both in Greece and Cyprus, that will make no concessions to the Turks. Because their ultimate goal is for permanent division so they can then annex the north. And you're an accomplice to this.
