...well said Sotos. but, whereas the interlocutors see the value of this land more as Property, it is the Cypriots that are left voiceless, as the Nations within it, place their interest above this Sovereignty as one People. as the British have a United Kingdom, so too Cyprus, Cypriots, Individuals, but as Persons sustaining National Identities (this is Bicommunal).
...Nation-States may exist, Greece is an example; Turkey is a Nation-State because the Kemalists have denied the diversity of the Turkish People in favour of "Turkishness": but for the most part a Modern State is no longer, simply a Nation. off the top of my head i reason that Scottish Independence is a reaffirmation of their Identity as a State and it is possible that this desire will be granted because over several hundred years their identity as Scots remains. it takes a great country like the UK to give this ideal any consideration.
