Didn't mighty Turkey (as per Boom-Boom's appraisal pls refer Imia 1996) threaten to annex the occupied north in 2004 if Cyprus was accepted as a EU member. And what happened? NOTHING!!!

Didn't the most glorious nation of Turkey threaten to annex the north just last year if the EU was going to allow the Cypriot presidency. And what happened? NADA!!!!

And didn't Bagis threaten to send in the "warships" if Noble began exploration of the gas fields. And what did Turkey do? HICBIR SEY!!!...oh wait, you sent in your most technologically advanced vessel:

Cyprus and Israeli were lucky, eh, if only the engine didnt break down you would have shut down the whole operation.

Mighty Turkey, don't mess with the fist-waiving paper tiger!!!

Ha Ha Ha! Sure, you're no longer interested. Now back to reality...

Of course you are, hence why you've continued with what is the impossible dream since the 1960's. You Turcos consider yourselves Europeans, something that is not shared with the rest of Europe. and you've heard the rebuttels from Europe, you shouldn't be allowed in the EU because you're not European. But you insist. You're desperate to get into the EU so you can yell, "Hey, look world, we're in the EU, we are finally Europeans!" So tell me, Lordoglu, do you consider yourself a European or a middle easterner :D. Of course you consider yourself a European and declare yourself as such despite the condescending grins and/or derisive stares from actual Europeans and the Arabs who mock you as "wanna-be Europeans". Ha ha ha, even the Arabs are laughing at you.

Turkey will never get into the EU. Everything they say eg "we dont want it" or "Europe needs Turkey" is simply for internal consumption. Its not only because they're Muslim and considered Middle-Easteners, but also Turkey would become the second biggest voting block in the European Parliament (with the way the Kurds are breeding, in a generation they will become the biggest). Turkey in Europe will become a headache. Just look at the way Erdogan and Bagis carry away. And imho, the UK may be vocal in their support of Turco membership, but they too dont want them in the EU. That's because the Turks will flood in. All this blah-blah about Turkish economic might neglects the fact it has much to do with its plethora of cheap labour. Turkey is the Mexico of Europe. It provides cheap goods. If Turkish wages rise to the same level as Greece, these goods will become too expensive and Europe will be looking to China and India. And it's not as if Turkey can give the middle finger to Europe because who else are they going to sell their goods to, the Arabs and the Iranians? But as I said, Turks are desperate for EU membership and they will take the backhanders they cop because the EU means they can finally feel "European". Let them dream and continue to be a cheap source of goods for the European markets.

And what was it you said Turkey would never come to our rescue in 1974?
