EU rejects Turkish boycott

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

...would have been much wiser if Turkey had kept her intentions to herself, instead of the threats she came up with. certainly it would have had more weight, her protests, if they happened while Cyprus held the Presidency. now the EU has been galvanised to stand on her Principals, with Turkey the butt end of their own beligerence.

if the EU have the balls they should say that they will not continue on the negotiating table unless Turkey negotiates during the Cypriot presidency.

the EU does not stoop low like Turkey. Turkey tarnishes her own image; or rather, i should say Erdogan tarnishes Turkey's image.

when Europe acts it will not be to simply make trouble.

If the TCs do not want to be part of EU's principles in Cyprus, then the EU is not going to give the TCs anything.

The TCs need to win over the EU and the GCs, but only if they want to become part of the EU principles!

As far as the EU is concerned, they already have the whole of Cyprus in the EU and neither the TCs nor Turkey can separate the north from the rest of the island.

There is a contradiction in TC thinking which they have yet to resolve. To be part of the EU they have to take on board EU law and principles. While staying outside the EU condemns the TCs to irrelevance and isolation. TCs only chance to thrive on the island is under the EU umbrella and yet Turkey keeps them hostage - to serve its own mistaken 'strategic' interests.

Pretty much spot on as far as Turkey's EU accession is concerned.

The EU will always act in good faith in the form of an inclusive approach and development grants to prospective EU candidate nations, and yes, that includes Turkey.

That's the spirit and ethos of the EU and it's for Turkey to demonstrate in it's accession process that it is willing to take this approach (including it's attitude to the Republic of Cyprus) and not for the EU to kick Turkey out of the process.

Turkey is not just dealing with the UK, Germany and France in it EU negotiations, but with the EU as a single block and the De facto status of its application is that it is suspended.

If Turkey continues this appalling behaviour during Cyprus' Presidency its reputation will be in tatters as far as the EU is concerned as it will not demonstrate the spirit of inclusion required of an EU member state.

But is that not what you boys wanted, for the talks to stop.

What more do you want, you just can't please some people.
