Technically, she doesnt do whatever she wants, she makes the Turkish tax payer pay through ECHR rulings and fines.

She does and will do whatever the Americans tell/allow her to do for as long as they believe she is useful to them. But, don't forget. Iran used to be the "pet" of the Americans as well, until the islamists took over.

Turkey as a country punches way above its weight.

The Turkish leadership have this supreme superiority complex and firm belief that they can get what ever they want and on their terms.

For example, Turkey believes that it can enter EU whilst not recognising one of it's member states and without opening it's ports or airspace to it.

Another example is that because Turkey has not signed the UN convention of the sea, it doesn't apply, so the Turks can employ gunboat diplomacy within the EEZ of it's neighbours.

Also, Turkey believes it can import Turkish mainlanders into occupied territory without impunity in direct violation of the 4th Geneva Convention.

It's taking time to sink in, but all these actions are holding Turkey back as a mainstream state, with exclusion and isolation from the EU accession process and the isolation and embargoes of the TCs.

The hope is that one day the people of Turkey will acknowledge that the backward mentality of its leadership is holding the country and the aspirations of it's people back and they will elect a leader that is willing to engage the civilised world and do what is necessary to turn Turkey into a modern normally functioning state.

Probably not in your lifetime Mr Ed.

95% of Turkey needs a brain transplant for this to happen and mankind cannot advanced without the development and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

“I take note that a candidate state says to us we will not negotiate during the presidency of a member state of the European Union,”

Indeed. Now can Turkey please stop going on about how it is 'boycotting' the EU. No-one gives a fuck.
