The past weekend has seen a massive medal harvest for Greece in international competitions in a multitude of fields.
Two golds, one silver and seven bronzes make up a total of ten medals, won by 16 athletes, as well as a European cup by Diomidis Argous' handball team.
Gymnastics
Two athletes excelled in the European Men's Artistic Gymnastics championship held in Montpellier, France. Lefteris Kosmidis won a gold medal for his floor performance while Vlassis Maras’ high bar routine earned him a bronze.
They both have already won a great number of World and European titles.

• Judo
Ilias Iliadis won the gold medal defeating four opponents in the men’s -90kg category at the Judo Gran Slam in Moscow. Iliadis is once again the world number one and among the favourites for the Olympic title in London.
• Swimming
At the European Aquatics Championships in Debrecen, the Greeks added 5 bronzes to their medal haul: two for Panagiotis Samilidis (200 m. butterfly and 200 m. breaststroke), 2 for Ioannis Drymonakos (200 m. butterfly and 400 m. individual medley) and one for Nery Niangkouara in the 50 m. freestyle – a striking comeback after her retirement in 2007.
• Rowing
Three Greek crews left the Rowing World Cup in Lucerne carrying bronze medals: the twins Nikos and Apostolos Gkountoulas in men’s pair, Stergios Papachristos, Ioannis Tsilis, Georgios Tziallas and Ioannis Christou in men’s four and Alexandra Tsiavou and Christina Giazitzidou in lightweight women’s double sculls. All of those rowers have won numerous World and European Medals before.
Beach Volley
Georgios Kotsilianos and Nikos Zoumpanis took home the silver medal, after a series of great performances at the Beach Volley Satellite in Baden, Austria.
• Handball
Diomidis Argous became the first Greek handball team ever to win the European Handball Federation Challenge Cup -and only the second to reach the finals- prevailing over Wacker Thun from Switzerland.
