That is so true you couldn't make it up, GC-TC interaction in north London is common.

What would have happened if all Greek Cypriots did not join the war and just let the Junta officers and EOKA fight the Turks. I am also including the soldiers of the GC National Guard?

So you see if the Greek Cypriots did not shoot at the Turks perhaps the outcome would have been different.

We shall never know.

Lordo! I said it before, I will say it again. It is not Geek tradition to welcome the enemy with flowers ( as some grass hoppers suggest) even if and when we are in the middle of a civil war. Greek tradition is to fight even when we know we are outnumbered and outgunned. Defiant of the outcome and of the consequences. Its a matter of honour, you see! Ancient tradition. Remember, not long time ago:
1940 Italian invasion in Greece.
1941 German invasion
1941-1944 Resistance against the Nazis, the Fascists and the Bulgarians.
1944-1949 war against communism.
1955-1959 war (in Cyprus) against colonialism (the last of the empires).
1974 Resistance against the Turkish invasion.
2004 No to the Annan Plan.

Let's make it plain again.

You are NOT Greeks.

Greeks have NEVER ruled Cyprus.

That depends on one's definition of Greece and Greek and whether or not it is racial concept (i.e.Genos) or More cultural (i.e. Ethnos) - on the genos side just as the Anglo Saxon genos has been overstated for Great Britain, so I think the Genos element hs been overstated for Cyprus.

And yes while in times past (particularly under the Romans and their eastern Roman Sucessors) Cyprus formed a part of an empire which ruled the area of what is now the modern state of Greece, Cyprus has never been a part of the modern πολιτική οντότητα that is now the Hellenic republic. .

Unfortunately there are a few here who like the idea that we should be run by remote governments between 532 km / 330 miles and 916 km / 569 miles aaway, rather than locally. That has been the Curse of the Island and why the indigeonous Kibrilisi now live as a diminshing minority even within the occupied areas where the puppet occupation regime is increasingly less caring of the indigeonous Kibrilisi but the puppets drops their pants and bend over to enable the occupiers to satisfy the post 74 non Cypriot settlers. .

Any pictures of the festivities Lordo? Showing cheering crowds will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

That is an interesting distinction, "genos" and "ethnos"... Greek is such a wonderful language... but I'm not sure... "race" is a hodgepodge of geography, culture and arbitrary genetics... it is a construct pure and simple... to conflate "race" with genetics, as I think the use of the word "genos" suggests, is wrong... there is more genetic diversity within so called "races" then there is between them... i.e. two people of different "races" could have more genes in common than two people of the same "race"... "race" simply picks out a few genes it finds important... it is like defining a "race" of tall people... the only difference is that "tall" people are roughly evenly spread geographically... I like what you're trying to do... and "genos" and "ethnos" are interesting distinctions... but I'm not sure I would translate "racial concept" as "genos"... maybe... but I think it would be better to stop using the term "race" altogether...

Genos = "omaimon"
Ethnos = "omaimon, omoglosson, omothreskon and omotropon" (same blood, same lanquage, same religion, same customs) put togehter.

But have these anything to do with this thread? I simply asked for a few bloody pictures of the festivities. Did the F16s get back home safely avoiding Syrian air space? Lordo? VP?
