If "Christians" bothered to read their handbook and lived there life in accordance with the teachings of that Jesus fellow it would be a wonderful, moral, caring world

However most don't and most can't ( respectively)..... then throw in those other "pesky sky fairies" worshipped around the world, the influence of power and money in organised religion with the ensuing dogma/ manipulation of people by fear to engender faith, and cruelty rampant in "a certain faith" , blind obstinate dispute of fact and churches are surprised by the exodus of apathy !.

It seems faith only thrives alongside ignorance, tough lives and lack of education ..... You know - third world Africa , the USA and Russia .
