Of course, should everybody now buy their stuff from Ikea, then my individual style will be the same as everyone elses, so, erm......

Bugger.

Ikea = Yukia. I went once, never again. You could not get your trolley off the loading area to your car, you had to leave the trolley and walk bloody miles to fetch the car. By the time you get back to the car some thieving Essex bastard is sorting through your trolley to see if there is anything worth nicking "sorry mate, wrong trolley" Yeah! and my ..... is a kipper. Why can't you have sensible shops in Cyprus like WICKES - the temple of DIY!

I have been a long time fan of IKEA and yes it's about time that they come and kick all these pretentious and excessively expensive furniture shop's ass.

IKEA used to be cheap and of poor quality. Over the last 15 years, they produced tremendous efforts to improve not only the quality, which is very good, but their design.

I agree that walking down IKEA might be a bit stressful but in my book this is the best shop when I consider the relationship between price/quality.

Hopefully, the prices will not be like everything in Cyprus... i.e. ridiculous. That's great news for the consumers.

why we should feel bad about it, most of us are customers and it is good that we have more choices. those furniture shop which wanna survive must improve their competitive power and make the price more reasonable. furnitures are too expensive in CY

I welcome competition as long as it is fair. Smaller shops will shut down but that means more efficiency which in turn means higher standards of living for everybody. Places like IKEA will never replace shops that serves the higher end of the market with individual designs.
My daughter and son in law are both interior designers and run a furniture shop in Kyrenia. They keep designing new furniture all the time. They should not be affected by similar shops opening in TRNC.

Isn't this place in the North of Cyprus???

Would be a bit difficult to buy from here for people in the South? :?
