IKEA furniture sucks.

I bought a chair from Ikea when I was a student and my little grandmother almost needed a hip replacement when the piece of shit couldn't support her tiny 30kg weight.

but I bet you were happy when you bought the chair and it didnt make a big dent in your student loan.

I love Ikea.

BIG UP IKEA EDMONTON!!!

Like many of us I would love Ikea to open in Nicosia. I don't know where the original buz that one would be opening soon came from but after reading through 8 pages of interesting chat on the subject I decided to go straight to the Ikea web site's new shops opening in 2006 and 2007:

www.ikea-group.ikea.com:corporate:ab

There is no mention of Ikea opening in Cyprus.

However, they apparently have companies operating for them so perhaps this is where the idea came from but surely Ikea would mention it.

Anyone have any poitive news on the subject?

They are cheap, because it comes in pieces and you put them together. The quality can vary. It is not the best stuff, but until you get into real money to buy from Italian design furniture, it's not too bad.

I live very close to one here in Switzerland, and the Swiss like it a lot.

IKEA's rights for the balkans and cyprus belong to fourlis group of companies.

The answe is YES..fourlis will expand to Cyprus and other countries through IKEA's brand or other brands

Η θυγατρική μας House Market A.E.

Yep, just make sure you read the directions which normally call for you to open the furniture outside and let it air out for about a half hour. This is to allow the formaldehyde to dissipate.

Lots of people ignore that step and go right about putting the stuff together indoors. Then they start having a hard time with the directions, can't remember what they did a couple minutes ago and start getting frustrated. Which is pretty much what formaldehyde will do to you, temporarily.

On the webpage for the Danish Embassy in Nicosia it is also mentioned that an IKEA store will open probably in November 2006...I'm not sure if it will be happening this fast but they are mentioning that it will probably open around this time because of selling more in Christmas. Also they are suggesting for other Scandinavian branches to contact them if they are interested in having a shop in the same mall as IKEA will be...

Ikea, Speed Cameras and the re- uification of a devided Cyprus. Where else would you get this??

And for my 2 pennies worth Ikea ia a fantastic store for those of us with a low income and the imagination to furnish our places with an individual style. The store in Lakeside Thurrock was brill, and you could get a hot dog at the end.
