"Cyprus itself is Greek!" - British view.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Cyprus was invaded by Greek Speaking peoples three times - twice (in 1100 BC and 320 BC or so) long before the existence of the Modern Greek State and once (unsuccesfully) in 1974 by the Greek Junta but as observed Cyprus has never been a part of the Greek State , which is what the enosis loving fools want.

Don't worry, it's still early for union with Greece.

would any Cypriot in their right mind want Enosis with Greece at this time - in any event as I have pointed out elswhere enosis would rip the guts out of the Cyprus economy even without the current crises.

True. Cyprus was never part of the modern Greek state which was formed after 1829 but it was always part of the Greek World. PERIOD.

Cyprus is not today part of the political state of modern Greece. But the British establishment believed it should be returned to the political state of modern Greece - long before the USA-Turkey became involved to stop this for their own geopolitical greed.

See: "The return of Cyprus to Greece" Foreign Office371/48280, file R 16249/19

Cyprus is recognizably a modern Greek island (which is why the Turks change the town names, destroy the ancient churches, send people like you to tell us we are not Greek etc) and recognizably an ancient Greek island (temples, writings etc). It is part of the everlasting Greek nation and the (still) majority natives are Greek. What is so unacceptable to our Modern British friends here whose cobbled together nation has been changing for centuries?

Or rather wasn't Crete part of the Greek World before it became part of the Greek State? And Macedonia and Thrace and the Eptanese and the Dodecanese?

In ancient Crete they worshipped the bull. In modern RoC they seem to worship bullsh*t!
