How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Because the Greek Cypriots would not let him hand Cyprus over to Turkey on a platter.

I think the GC people should be more worried about Anastasiades, who would be guaranteed to sell us out.

Not that he is to be trusted (he supported the Annan Plan in 1974 like his former boss Clerides) but I don't think he will dare this time.

You mean 2004 right? :) Anastassiades is lingering around like a bad smell though. He may decide to make his move this time. Who else is there? Garoyian? Omirou? Markoullis?

He had a tough job. Whatever his reasons for making this decision, I wish him all the best for the future and am very grateful he has not given anything of Cyprus away to the Turks - against immense pressure. The unitary state has been firmly on his agenda. The Turkish threats from the earlier days of oil exploration were suitably ignored. He gleaned together a good team. And I do believe he commanded a presence among the great divides of both Eastern and Western powers.

Good luck. :)

B25 ... I think I agree with you and with the Greeks in their own Turmoil I think we need to be cautious.

I actually think President Christofias is a man of his word and I like this in a leader.

Just remember any solution is based on a referendum so if a leader accepts an AP type solution based on racism and prejudice should not be accepted by the people.

Totally agree on Eroğlu but Talat noway he was the best chance youll ever have, plus your response shows why there will never be a solution....accepting your sides mistakes is the only way towards finding middle round. Your side has never supported BBf they are fighting for a unitary state where the GCs rule the whole island and we are just a minority, with this mentality how do you expect to find a solution?
