Cyprus EU bird logo has an identical brother

Image

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE • Tue, May 15, 2012

The logo designed as the symbol of the Cyprus Presidency of the EU, is almost identical to a generic budget "off the shelf" logo being sold by the online graphics site Shutterstock for under 300 Euros.

The revelation, which have come to light via online social media, has been brushed aside by the designers as being a"co-incidence".

The logo still has not been introduced onto the official website of the Presidency and is not yet being used in any promotions.

The logo was a product of an open invitation to the public for ideas, and was described by the designer as "a graphic design of a ship sailing to the heart of Europe".

The presidency logo, which is an integral part of the communication strategy for every EU presidency, will assist in this direction, the President noted, by creating an identifiable image that evokes positive connotations and reflects the presidency’s message to our partners and the world.

I wonder which relative of the President got the contract for coming up with the logo?
