Why TCs Prefer to Shop in the Free Areas

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Why TCs Prefer to Shop in the Free Areas

Postby Hermes » Wed May 09, 2012 10:33 pm

Why Turkish Cypriots Prefer to Shop in the Free Areas.

A recent survey produced the following results:

1. It makes them feel European (that is, not Turkish)
2. It relaxes them to be in a free environment
3. The international brands
4. The service
5. The smiling faces of the shopkeepers
6. The variety of products
7. The modern infrastructure in the free areas

Unfortunately this isn't a poll but a survey in which Turkish Cypriots explain why they prefer to shop in the free areas.

Indeed. When a TC visits the free areas it must be like a prisoner on day-release stepping into a world of freedom and light. They realise what they are missing out on. And then at the end of the day, when the sun goes down, they have to return to their dark, brutal prison cell.

Two way street?

Postby Milo » Thu May 10, 2012 6:07 am

"According to information made public yesterday by the Cypriot credit card clearing house JCC, Greek Cypriot expenditure in the occupied areas sums up to millions of euros. During the first three months of 2012, at least 2621 Greek Cypriots travelled to Turkey via the occupied areas aboard Turkish or Turkish Cypriot airlines through the illegal Ercan airport. During that period 556000 euro was spent by credit card for purchases of airline tickets while more than one million euro was spent in casinos and other entertainment. More than 300000 euro was spent for shopping including clothing, supermarket and other household goods while over 700000 were spent at hotels.

Keep in mind that these figures don’t take into account cash payments but only expenditure made using credit cards meaning the actual values are much higher."

Doubt those numbers are just for Greek Cypriots. Probably they refer to the holders of credit cards issued by Cyprus Banks which would include a lot of immigrants and even TCs. The GCs that travel regularly to the north are just criminals of the underworld who go there to play in casinos... plus a few idiots  I never went to the north but I am sure Bananiot has funded the Turkish occupation with many 1000s of euro! :x
