Chic and Classy in Cyprus?

Postby GreekIslandGirl » Wed May 09, 2012 10:57 am

Please help a poor peasant girl who never goes "out" ... :)

- Shortly, I will be entertaining the classiest English lady that has ever set foot on Cyprus.

She has just turned 50 (but looks 30) so we want to avoid pick-up places (both of us happily married with kids) - but we want lively action.

~ So where are the chic and classy places to visit in Cyprus? :D

You could take her for a coffee with Bananiot and Halil on a Saturday morning.

I guess that would fulfill the "lively action" side of things. :)

(Avoiding politics, but isn't it tacky - to say the least- to take someone to Nicosia to show them what the Turks have done? :? )

Anyway, I prefer to hang around Paphos, if possible ... maybe venture towards Limassol.

What kind of "lively action" you want and about what time are we talking about?

Is this just a bar for sitting around and drinking? Does it have any entertainment ?

Is it Greek or foreign owned? Prefer something with a little authenticity towards Greek/Cypriot if possible.

I'm OK with showing her round the Mosaics, tombs of the kings, nice villages, walks etc - all the things for the day. She'll love these. :)

But I now realise, I have never gone out on my own (no male company) in the evening with another grown-up female friend before. So I am really stuck for somewhere safe but fun to spend these few evenings with her. I want her to be impressed by Cyprus (she hates Turkey for some reasons that I do not want her to experience here in Cyprus) and I don't know anywhere impressive for the evenings, apart from a few restaurants. But afterwards?

In the 5 years I've lived in Paphos ..... I'm struggling to think of any bar that combines chic, classy and lively in one package , well one that is not full of "20 somethings on the pull" or " oi oi saveloy Brits"
Plenty of very nice upmarket restaurants ..... Oliveto, almond tree,Zaffron,Chloe's etc etc etc.
I always find tourists, of all types, really enjoy Viklaris in the akamas ..... But you need a 4x4 really........ Mmmmm wood cooked souvla (salivate)
