I will suggest you following places (considering age group and class of company you expecting)

(1) 7 Seas : Bit classy and overpriced , Crowd is uptight and not so alive but ambience and place is good and usually with live music. Go on tuesday or wednesday when its cuban/latin night , you will find more "live action" and alive ppl

(2) Library : Weird place where people prefer to hang out in street rather than actual sitting inside , filled with modern young professional and expat crowd and almost everyone knows everyone if you are regular here

(3) Lobby : Without doubt Best food in town and most exhaustive wine and scotch menu you can find in Limassol , its not usual pub but more like restaurant with good amount of people chatting on bar counter. Not a place to mingle but perfect place to hang out with group of freinds. They do have TV playing footbal (not sure why they put it) but just in case you prefer it

(4) Old castle area : Series of restuant with outside sitting option and with good choices of food option. Try draft and their house beer.

(5) House : New place , looks like actual house from outside , small but again got goof food and drinks option. Crowd is usually mature. Again not so great place to mingle but great to hang out

(6) Wine Shop : In front of woodman pub , good place to sip and enjoy company of wine lovers

To really enjoy Cyprus party scene, forget about classy places, let wild side out and party like there is no tomorrow ... When in cyprus do as cypriot do ... So have few shots of Zivania , drink few bottles of wine and next morning check your phone for memorable pictures :) :) :)

Thanks, XNTric - I really appreciate the effort you've gone to. Looks like you're a connoisseur of Cyprus nightlife :)

- There are a few (nearly all) which sound worth visiting (or drop into for a quick drink before moving on). Plus, in order to also see how accurate your descriptions are. I might show your critique to my friend as she'll get a giggle :)

Plenty of very nice upmarket restaurants ..... Oliveto, almond tree,Zaffron,Chloe's etc etc etc.
I always find tourists, of all types, really enjoy Viklaris in the akamas ..... But you need a 4x4 really........ Mmmmm wood cooked souvla (salivate)

Thanks bsharpish. :) Yeah, we have 4X4 and I've just youtubed the 'Viklaris' which sounds great for lunch with a nice drive and a dip at Lara Bay. Do you know if it is open on Sundays?

The day-times will be packed - but it's just what to do in the evenings which is proving problematic. To top it all, she is my most glitzy friend, and she's heard so much about Cyprus (from me) over the years that I want her to be (naturally) wowed. Easy in the day ...

Open 7 days a week but booking is recommended as it gets very busy and I mean VERY

Call them in advance I'll pm the mobile number

Thank you :)

(I've never had to book anywhere in Cyprus before, so that's a first for me :) )

Hopefully you didn't present Cyprus as something that is not ;) Cyprus has a good combination of nature, history, sun and sea ... but there is nothing such as "Cypriot authentic Chic and Classy". We have Chic and Classy places but are not different from anything you can find in other European countries. If you want authentic Chic and Classy you go to France ;)

Honestly, she's heard all the downs as well as ups, over the years. She thinks the 'bad' stuff is quaint. You know, people making decisions for you, shouting instead of speaking, showing little patience etc.

She loves the idea of dirt tracks and snakes (she keeps snakes and lizards as pets), sun and sea and some sights. So she has a realistic picture of everyday Cyprus. But I suddenly realized we shall have a few evenings also and I don't want her stuck with my company eating, drinking, reading. Yet, she's not one for wild nightclubs or drunken yobs and so I want to avoid such places (I know they exist). :) She said she wants to "squeeze" in as much as possible and wants to let her hair down a bit. :) I haven't done any of that for about a dozen years.

- Shortly, I will be entertaining the classiest English lady that has ever set foot on Cyprus.

She has just turned 50 (but looks 30) so we want to avoid pick-up places (both of us happily married with kids) - but we want lively action.

~ So where are the chic and classy places to visit in Cyprus? :D

try the Dome in Girne my dear .........Very classy you know!.............

......Runs for cover avoiding heals and hairbrush flying through the air...

The only way you would know a place was classy would be if they refused to let YOU in!

OK OK OK - Yipee, I know where the aquarium is. :)

- Funnily enough, I was wondering about lovely Kafenes. I met him only once, a few years back, but have never had the pleasure of seeing him perform due to always having to rush back early. I'll put my shyness aside and try and contact him. :)

So near and yet so far!

I braved the off-road dirt tracks in my little 4x4 - after accepting a motorbike escort from a lovely macho GC who decided to lead the way for me (at break-neck speed) instead of giving us the asked for directions - through the mass of estates that have sprung up around the Sea Caves area. Dirt flying all around me, I trudged along over the bumpy roads (having now refused the further help of another friendly macho GC in a HUGE 4x4 which I feared squeezing alongside as it involved getting too near the cliffy edge). I saw the Viklaris sign and pulled into the car park - all well and good. But the restaurant was way ahead above a STEEP windy track and my nerves really couldn't take tackling it just for a bit of food. :(

So we went on to Lara Bay and got burnt to cinders for a few hours. The little shack by the sea was fine for frappe and pitta sandwiches - with the nicest Sri Lankan waiter I have ever met. Gorgeous smile and sweet nature. Lovely. :)

We made it to Sundowners! :D It was the start of our "Cocktail Bar Crawl" - bolstered by the northern lass barista/cocktail mixer, who kept calling us "babe".

- I can now formally declare that the best cocktails are to be had at the unlikeliest place of all - the Kiniras hotel restaurant in Pano Paphos. They have an eclectic selection based on your Zodiac Sign. We had a couple to celebrate our own plus the starsigns of some nearest and dearest folk. Hic :D
